Had only one exam today, the LAST one as it so happens. Hooray! With IT, the testing and incessant study has come to an end! I will do NO study whatsoever for FOUR WEEKS OR SO! YAY!
Exam took only an hour and a half in the morning, so hung around school looking at Encyclopaedias of Myths and Gods. Spent ages looking at the stuff on numerology in the myths one- it was freakishly accurate. Weird. Very fun though, I must say. And I found out something about the American Indians, the Navaho Indians in particular, which amused me duly...
Gay crossdressers were sacred. If you showed homosexual tendencies, it was thought that you were closer to the spirit world. In some cultures, there were some jobs such as shamanism that only male crossdressers could do. Female crossdressers got to be warriors and were treated like men- they were able to achieve the same status and everything. In one culture, I think the Navahos, they had this thing with the crossdressers and marriage. There was this special name for crossdressers that started with B, but anyway, they had to have relationships that were SOCIALLY heterosexual. Which means if they cross-dressed, they HAD to be gay. And you could have a primary and a secondary marriage- primarily to someone of the opposite gender and secondarily to a cross-dresser. I may go research this further, methinks.
Looking in the God encyclopaedia, I went a-searching for Gods of different cultures. By the way, Ashie, I hate you for persuading me that God's siblings deserve love. Damn you. But as I was saying, here is the full God/Goddess list of my characters as it stands from this afternoon:
God stuff )
Am half-watching something on the writer of Count Dracula. I was amusing myself by sniggering in a fangirlish manner at the beginning when it said something about his 30 year relationship with the actor Irving; then later I realised that Stoker actually WAS a flaming queen. It was so FUNNY. He was friendsies with Oscar Wilde. Then he got an infatuation with this author, William Walt (something Walt, anyway). The book had homo erotic overtones and Stoker wrote this letter about how he was a man with a woman's eyes and how Walt could be as a father and brother and wife to him etc. It was HILARIOUS. Then came the actor Henry Irving... He was practically in LOVE with the guy. Count Dracula was BASED on him. No, screw that, he WAS in love with the guy. And when the thing said "he followed his artistic bent" my father was just like "don't they mean he followed his bent artist?"
The tv just said that Dracula has homosexual overtones and that Stoker recorded a dream where these female vampires were going for him but then the Count said "this man is mine." and claimed him. Hmmmmmmmm.
Mwahahaha. This amuses me.
...Later...
Bram Stoker had syphilis when he died. He was SO sleeping with actor-dude. And there was a picture of the movie cover of Queen of the Damned. Wheeeeeeeeee, Lestat in leather pants!

Edited to say: Upon further research, it is Navajo, not Navaho. Also, the term I couldn't remember was Berdache, meaning "kept boy" or "male prositute". They also call bi-sexual people two-spirited. It's really very fascinating.

Excerpt from site, "The Yaoi Files":

Azure Dreams
Other Life Azure Dreams
Publisher: Konami
Summary: Azure Dreams is a monster-collecting/dating sim set in the desert village of Monsbaiya, which is beside the Monster Tower, a mystical place where people can capture, tame, and battle with monsters, as well as making a fortune selling the monster eggs and treasure they find. Koh, son of a famous monster tamer who disappeared in the Tower seven years ago, now dreams of becoming a tamer himself, and pulling his family and his town out of poverty. Along the way, he becomes quite close with several female townspeople, as well as one self-absorbed male.
Couple(s): Koh and Ghosh Rode
Observations: Although it was edited out of the American release, apparently in Japan, in addition to dating the seven female characters, Koh could also date and even 'marry' his overly-proud, arch-rival/best friend, Ghosh Rode (a blonde bishounen).
