Have spent about 5/6 hours on homework. Missed most of dance on the behalf of maths. Am feeling stressed, have headache. Just had huge arguement with father over why homosexuals should/should not be allowed to marry. He says he's all in favour of them being allowed to have relationships, but they can't get married because they're not a man and a woman.
Me: So? So what?
Apparently you shouldn't get married if you can't have children.
And what about infertile couples? Does that mean they aren't really married either? And mum says, No, they have the POTENTIAL to have children.
..... Um, BULLSHIT. I hate to tell you this, parents, but the concept of being barren means you DON'T have the potential to have children. Seriously.
Then dad went on and on about how they steal words such as "gay" (and, like a good Origins of English student I pointed out that words ALWAYS change) and that they shouldn't be allowed to steal any more words. Or other people's social structures.
Apparently, by getting married they would be stealing the very fabric of straight society. Isn't that FASCINATING? You see, I didn't KNOW that. It all becomes CLEAR now.
Of course, my commenting upon the fact that change is the very nature of humanity, in particular SOCIETY and LAW, went sadly unheeded.
I feel the need at this point to add that the term "normal" cropped up.
*grits teeth*
Sorry for that spam. Also, I have lost Beowulf, I have too much homework, year 12 is stealing my life, I spent 3 hours making brackets work on my IT calculator, etc. Woe is me.

hey tammaiya. what's up?

The Passion of The Christ (http://www.ThePassionOfTheChrist.com) is in theaters soon - this week on Wednesday.. what do you think about this movie? I'm going to see it for sure - the trailers (http://www.thepassion.tv) were enough to convince me. I read somewhere that it's the widest opening ever for a subtitled movie; I have a feeling subtitles won't detract from the full effect of this movie though. After looking at the trailers which have no subtitles or english at all, it was reinforced for me that lack of spoken english in this film won't hurt one bit. To sum up my impression of The Passion: it's a work of art.
Good Website (http://www.passion-movie.com)
Another fascinating aspect to this movie is all the controversy that has been generated about it.
Some people, not really representative of Jewish people, but rather self appointed Jewish spokespeople, such as Abraham Foxman from the Anti-Defamation League, seem to have been attempting to denounce this film for months as being anti-Semitic. The news reported that they even stole the script last year! But here's what some Jews say (Jews who don't make it their job to tear apart other people): by Rabbi Daniel Lapin.

Nice to see some people speaking rationally.

So what do you think of all this?

man, that really sucks. you have a lot of sympathy, and a good dose of anger at certain bigoted parental figures.

it makes me really grateful for my opne-minded parents who think bush is from the 19th century.

Maaaaaaan, that would be great. In return for your sympathy, you have my envy. ^^;
My brother is open-minded, though, so if I ever get driven to disowning my family he'll be excepted.
