Anime.Au.04 Rant: Let's try this again.
Apr. 4th, 2004 10:19 amOkay, my father just closed the window in which I was updating about the con. *twitch* Urge to kill? Definitely rising. Anyway, let's try this again.
Oh, and the links to that fanart are within.
The day started with my father turning on the light and telling me to get up, just like every school day. Just like every school day, I groaned and rolled over and probably muttered "g'way" or the like.
"Didn't you want to go to something today?"
Oh. Oh YEAH. It's not a schoolday, moronic self; it is SATURDAY. The day of the con. And in fact, you had already slept till the time of the opening.
Er. Oops?
That was sufficient to drag me out of bed, so deciding that if I wasn't cosplaying (I hadn't really decided if I was going to go or if I'd be in Canberra or really anything related to the Con until maybe the day before, which would be why) I may as well LOOK like I was cosplaying, so I put on my knee high boots (they look a lot like the ones Eugenie was wearing, for the record) and my gothic-y purple dress and cross and too much eye makeup.
It worked, you know. One or two people took photos, and at least one person asked what I was from. *smug*
Also, it occurred to me earlier that I could have just gone as Youji with too-long hair (hair is right colour and waviness, just not length) quite easily, but ce la vie. Next time! Especially if I can get Mari to come as Aya and Liz to come as Ken!
Rang Cathy to make sure I wouldn't get horribly lost or something before I left, and then departed in all mah pimpin' gear.
Day was filled with much fun, ogling the various merchandise (but I restrained myself- the only thing I paid for was the $15 entry fee), watching the cosplay comp and cheering at my friends and then at Anna's winning first place, watching in awe at the DDR and Para Para, drawing at the drawing table...
Though I must say, that Kendo kata display was surprisingly boring. Huh.
Back to the drawing, though. Met Cathy's Bundah friends, who were v. cool, and the drawing of pr0n caused amusement to all. It was most sad when it got taken off the wall for being "inappropriate for the kiddies". ^~ Bonded with Tai over shared love of the same Weiss ships, and in honour of that, drew Aya/Youji chibi shounen ai. Which is here, by request of people who wanted a copy. (Don't click on it to see it full size, it's too large and I was too lazy to resize it.) Maybe I'll resize it later.
And then as there were requests to draw Crawford and Schuldich, and as I (a) wanted to draw something more realistic, (b) wanted to draw something darker and (c) wanted to draw something pr0nnier, I ended up drawing semi-bondage Schuldich/Crawford.
Whaaaaaaaaaaaat?
So then the Asian guy at the Otaku magazine stall next to me looked at it and was amused and thought it was cool, and wanted to put it up on the wall.
Ah, but what if it's "inappropriate for the kiddies"?
He said jokingly that it's always good to push the boundaries and BESIDES, it wasn't graphic, and put it up.
He was cool.
So anyway, that is now here, and I even bothered to resize it. Good me! Biscuit!
The music video competition was really good. The second place one, to Superman, almost made me cry. But the best by FAR was Anna's! Really sweeping out the prizes, Anna... Anyway, that was great. Everyone cheered and laughed when people's lips moved in time to the words. Especially the bit where Muraki dipped Hisoka and the bit where Tsuzoka 'sang' "It's mooooooooooooooore than I can staaaaaaaaaaand!" *giggle* Which reminds me! I WANT A COPY. SEND IT TO ME PLEEEEEEEESE! Via MSN?
So she won, and the decision was really popular, too.
And then. And THEN. Adam and Joe Go Tokyo! OMG SQUEE. They were a total OTP. Two cute, nerdy guys who go to Tokyo and do all this zany stuff. And you just HAVE to ship them, what with scenes like this:
"So this is the bow-wow translator thing. It's supposed to translate what your dog says. Now let's test it. We COULD have brought a dog into the studio, but we're using Adam instead, as he knows what he's trying to convey. Go on, Adam."
"Woooof! Grrrrrr woof?"
"It says 'let's have fun.' Is that what you were trying to say?"
"... actually, I was saying "would it be a big problem if I were to rub against your leg?"
*a little later, Adam starts taking of the collar thing*
"You're taking the collar off?"
"Yes. It makes me feel like your sex slave."
*SNERK*
They were incredibly funny, cute, AND gay. Wonderful. I need to get this somewhere...
Whichever way, it occurred to me at about 7pm that the last thing I had eaten, in fact the only thing, had been a hot cross bun at 10am. Er. Strangely, I wasn't hungry. But I did eat some of Cathy's sushi, as she didn't want it. ^^
Anyway, Day Of Joy. Only slightly marred by the fact that I shall now fail my orals and that essay. Wheeeeeeeee!
...so going as Youji next time. I'll even cut my hair for it.
