- When I was in year 5, I ran away from school because none of my friends were talking to me. The principal drove to my home to pick me up and the entire grade asked me annoying questions like "why did you run away?" for the next few years. I didn't get in trouble, though- they sent me to the counsellor.
- I am, quite literally speaking, a masochist. Not in a sexual sense, and only to a certain extent, but I find some types of pain comforting and will purposefully aggravate a bruise or sprain.
- I have a teddy-bear named Bearthwood that was a Christening present. It's a she, and is about 3 foot high; I never played with her until I was 8 when I suddenly noticed her, and since then she's always been my favourite. Whenever adults asked her name they always thought it was "bearfoot" because of my lisp. I still sleep with her in my bed.
- I have 16 cousins, 9 on my mother's side and 7 on my father's. The youngest is 8, the oldest is 38.
- My house has been burgled 3 times. The first time was when I was 4, and I thought the burglar had stolen my purple pencil.
- I sleepwalk and sleeptalk. I once fell out of the top bunk at a school camp, and my sister once apparently came home to find me walking around my bedroom saying, "My book, where's my book? Mum took my book..."
- Sometimes I get gender-confused and think of myself in male terms. I'm not sure whether to blame slash or my brother.
- I was raised a Catholic. Bizarrely enough, I'm so indecisive that even my faith contradicts itself- half of me is really superstitious/religious, the other half is cynical. So one part of me is a Catholic who believes in ghosts and tarot, and the other is all logic. It's confusing, to say the least.
- I first started going to my current school at the beginning of year 3, and I've been in the same group for the whole time. (I'm in year 12 now)
- I have a really delicate stomach, and it takes depressingly little to make me nauseous. I used to take ginger tablets for carsickness, but now even the smell of ginger makes me throw up.
- I went to China when I was 4. They thought I was lucky because I have blue eyes.
- I really, really love music. I always have it on whenever possible, and I love to sing along; I learned piano from 6 to 11 and reached 4th grade. Mum made me give it up when I was 11 because she got breast cancer and it was too stressful forcing me to practise.
- The reason I hate clothes shopping is that my mother and sister treat me like a barbie doll and I get sick of changing.
- I am really VERY insecure- at least, part of me is- and always wonder if everyone secretly hates me. And if I actually really suck at everything.
- I went to a Catholic school from kindergarten to grade 2. Part of the reason I left was because of bullying; the other part was that it was a really bad school, educationally speaking.
- I am a very obsessive person; when I get obsessed with something, I spend all my free time on it to the exclusion of all else. (Eg, video games, slash, etc.) I'm also really obsessive about some very strange things- when clearing the magazines at work I get really twitchy if I don't stack them by size, and I have been known to fixate from when I buy a book to several days after reading it if the spine is even slightly dented.
- My entire extended family except for my brother calls me Vorn, Vornie or some variation thereupon (my uncle Peter calls me the Vornster). My brother has called me Beast and other names for the antichrist (spawn of satan, satan, beelzebub, child of the devil, to name a few) for as long as I can remember; it really used to upset me, but now I think of it as a term of endearment. And yes, I DO respond to Beast.
- My sister once called me the female version of my brother because I'd rather go to the movies with him than go clothes shopping with her and two of my cousins.
- I spent my entire childhood trying to copy my brother. Okay, fine, my entire life. I used to sit and watch him play computer games and then play it after him, and a lot of my musical taste came from him. He's also the reason maths is my best subject- I didn't care about it before, but I wanted to prove that I was as good at it and could enjoy it as much as he did. So I did.
- The lowest mark I've ever got on a report was 30, and it was for year 8 religion. I didn't hand ANYTHING in, pretty much.
- My mother always said I could get my ears pierced for my 13th birthday and not before, ever since I was 5. I got them pierced a few days after my 13th birthday.
- I always wanted a dog. Dog was my first word, and when I got a Chinese name seal, I got a dog on the top instead of a tiger (it's supposed to be your Chinese birth year). My parents said I could get a poodle when I was 11- they have allergies- and I did. Her name is Ebony.
- When I was 9, I always told people my budgie's name Max was short for "Maximum" because he made the maximum noise, the maximum mess and the maximum something else which I don't remember. I wanted a female budgie called Minnie short for Minimum.
- I am absolutely petrified of graduating, because I've been in the same environment for 10 years and this is the last year. I don't know what I want to do and I'm scared of not seeing my friends every day in class.
- My greatest fear is of time, because it encompasses my three worst phobias- change, aging and death. I'm quite sure they're phobias, because just thinking about any one of the three has the capacity to reduce me to a hysterical crying mess. This happens more often than I'd like, so I try not to think about the future.
- I sometimes deprive myself of food and sleep intentionally. I don't know why- probably because it gives me some control. Or maybe I just like hurting myself.
- When I was younger, I almost never finished video games. I'd get to the last boss or the last dungeon and then I'd start playing something else. It was tied in with my fear of time- I didn't want to finish it, because then it would be over.
- I am a complete and utter perfectionist, even at video games. I get really upset if I miss a secret or don't collect all of the whatevers. I feel like I've failed if I get less than an A, and in some subjects if I get less than an A+.
- I was initially horrified by the concept of HP slash, just because it was a children's book. Note I was a slasher at the time. Very ironic, given how much I slash it now.
- I really don't understand why people think I'm nice and/or interesting.
- I have a really bad inferiority complex and always have had. According to mum, when I was a child I didn't think I could read simply because my brother and sister could do it.
- I did Tae Kwon Do for 9 months in year 9/10, and achieved a yellow belt green tip. I had to give up because of the contract they introduced- my parents wouldn't sign it- so I took up dance instead.
- My uncle, father, mother and brother all did law at the ANU. My uncle is a judge, my father is the senior partner of his own firm, my mother works for my father and my brother is a lawyer in Sydney. My brother's induction ceremony
or whatever it's calledwas recorded in the newspaper, because my mother and father both stood for him and my uncle was on the bench. They called us a dynasty. It was sad, in a cool way. - I didn't do crosscountry when I was in year 4 because I had a semi-dislocated hip. It was genetic; my sister was born with dislocated hips.
- I got my hair cut off when I was 9 because it was knotty and I was too much of a wimp to put up with the pain of brushing it out. I regretted it that very night and spent some long years growing it back.
- I read the Wheel of Time series when I was 12 just to spite my brother, because when I used to ask to borrow books from him he'd joke about lending it to me as it was so incredibly long. One day I got sick of the implication that I couldn't do it and borrowed them one by one out of the library until I'd read them all.
- When I was about 6, I was climbing on the piano to reach something and fell off. I cut the skin just under my eye landing on a typewriter and went to the doctor.
- I broke my arm as a preschooler from sheer stubborness- my mother was holding me up on the monkey bars and I insisted I could do it myself. Well, apparently I couldn't, because I've always had weak arms. Whoops.
- I sucked my thumb until I was 12 and needed to get braces.
- I had glandular fever so badly when I was about 3 that I could have died- if it hadn't broken when it did I would have gone by ambulance to the hospital.
- I was born three weeks premature.
- I was nocturnal even as a baby and kept my mother up to 4 am for about 5 months after I was born. She hardly ever saw my brother and sister because they weren't awake at the same times.
- My childhood nickname was "mouse", because I was so small. My sister's was "possum" and my brother's was "wombat".
- I really love fruit, especially tomatoes.
- I'm ammoral in many ways, but I find it impossible to seriously hurt people physically, even in self-defence.
- I've been in love with computers since I was 3 years old- I first learned to program on the Commadore 64 when I was still very little.
- Japanese is my favourite subject. I first decided I wanted to learn it in year 7- probably because of Mari, I don't remember- and I found a book on it lying around the house. Retrospectively it was a really crap book, but I tried to teach myself quite obsessively. My family said I'd lose interest as soon as I had to study, but that is one of the rare time that hasn't happened.
- I was afraid of my Grandpa until I was 10. After that I loved him a lot.
- I've had my job as a medical receptionist since I was 15. My sister did the same job from when she was 16 to about when she was 21.
- Once when my brother was supposed to be taking care of me- I'd have been about 6- we had a fight and I tried to run away. He's not a very good runner but he was massively tall, even then, so he caught me quite easily. When my parents came home I was tied to a tree in the front yard.

In Spain, you can have all my tomatoes, for clearly our taste buds are not in synch like our minds.

... I also feel vaguely enriched by having been tied to a tree. XD
