Oct. 8th, 2004 09:49 pmArgh I was halfway through an update when the computer reset. *headdesk*
Anyway. Let's try this again.
Am in Sydney for the weekend, so no email and sporadic net access. Which means VERY sporadic comment replies from me, as no notifications on top of not being online most of the time.
Got little toknow WTF I DID THAT LAST TIME TOO no sleep last night, due to a combination of my fucked up sleep patterns and my poodle. On the former, let's just say I got up at 3pm and went to bed at around 1am. Um. Yes. On the latter... as much as she makes a good teddy bear, it means no rolling over. And also, have you ever tried sleeping with a twitching and spasming dog in your arms? It's distracting, I tell you! She must have very active dreams. Way more so than anything she does in real life. *rolls eyes*
Speaking of waking up at 3pm yesterday, I forgot to mention on my post yesterday- I was supposed to meet Matt at the shops at 3, but I was woken up shortly after then by a "where are you?" phonecall. Am fool! FOOL. However Matt is lovely and came by to drop off new Pratchett book anyway, yay~! Going Postal great fun so far. Approve of main character's cynicism, and also of the Vetinari moments.
Anyway, as for today. The coach ride can be described thusly: A Disgusting Combination of Ridiculous Exhaustion (see above), Mild Physical Discomfit, Misery-Inducing Motion Sickness and Extreme Boredom (see motion sickness: reading while car sick? HAH. LIKE HELL.)
And yes. I did devise this during said coach-trip during my boredom. Feel free to point and laugh.
First day of formal shopping down, entire Sydney city covered. Surprisingly little in the way of formal dresses. Feet sore, as spent 3 hours and went to 9 different arcades/malls. *THUNK* Only tried on maybe 6 dresses, which is good because sekritly that's the bit that TRULY tires me out. Mostly went around saying things like, "OMFG $1800 FOR ONE DRESS?! WTF KIND OF CRACK ARE THEY SMOKING?"
There was this really ugly dress that was $1600, too...
Aside from that, though, also stopped off at Kinokuniya and spent money. Less than $100 this time, but... bow and scrape, my friends, for *I* have a loyalty card. 10% discount! Yay! That means I have discounts for both Kinokuniya AND the cheap Japanese DVD place. *amused*
Had a little adventure at Kinokuniya. Went to the counter and bought four things: Duklyon 1 & 2 (in English this time. No, shut up, I have my reasons. And mostly they involve me being highly suspicious of my own Japanese literacy. It's a means of checking! ^^;), FAKE 1 and DNAngel 1 (in Jap, for I am rich and there was no reason not to.)
Before this, though, I went to the little computer-y thing, had fun awe-ing my sister with my ability to use the Japanese part of it (enough to discover that Yellow 4 was in the system but not in stock), and got similar results with English!Tokyo Babylon. When I was at the counter, I asked about ordering. Turns out I had to go to the Japanese counter for Yellow and the English counter for TB.
Alright, said I, Japanese counter first.
I ALMOST WENT TO THE CHINESE COUNTER. I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW THERE *WAS* A CHINESE COUNTER. *headdesk*
Anyway, the store is getting 7 copies of Yellow 4. Guess when, guys? "Oh, probably about 2 weeks."
YES. So anyway, I reserved a copy, which I am allowed to do being from inter-state. Then it was off to the English counter-
Halfway there I realised there was a seperate comic counter and veered off in that direction. *whistles innocently* Another near-mishap averted!
And it turned out they actually DID have TB3- it was in a really obscure location- so back to the checkout counter for me! Yay! 2 times in 10 minutes, how special. So that's when I got the loyalty card. ^^
This evening, went out for dinner with brother and sister. Was Japanese. Was so incredibly good. Mmm. Had a banquet thingy- yakitori and tenpura and miso and sushi and sashimi and yum. *glee*
Tomorrow is the federal elections. I will cry if John Howard gets back into power. Sister will need to go vote, so will maybe be around midday-ish.
Am also apparently going to the direct factory outlets and glebe markets tomorrow. Another shopping intensive day follows. Alas, the grand search for the formal dress! *woe*
On a sidenote, I go back to school tomorrow and I have completely given up on everything except Japanese. Don't know if I'll even bother handing things in, as effort does not seem altogether worth it. We shall see. Bloody school.
Now if you'll excuse me I am going to go spend some quality time with my goods. <3
