Feb. 12th, 2005 09:49 pmHola~!
Am... well, not quite back. Am in Sydney, and will be back tomorrow. Have missed you all greatly so am very glad to return. <3
Here is the all-purpose blanket update. It will probably be filled with boring things nobody cares about. *g* You've been warned! I should also warn you that it'll jump around a lot, timewise.
*On the morning we drove up to Shoal Bay, mum produced two (real) sapphire rings and two (probably not real) pearl necklaces. They are, she said, from your Nana. (I would just like to add that my Nana died over 3 years ago.) She'd apparently decided I was old enough that my sister and I could decide between us who got which so now I have a sapphire ring and I am absolutely in love with it. So blue! So pretty! Elegant and simple and a lot like a summoner's ring from the Tales' series! Yes, I'm that much of a dork.
*The Demon Diary saga- I went to Kinokuniya on the first day in Sydney and bought the remaining volumes of Demon Diary, but accidentally bought 2 copies of volume 6 instead of a copy of volume 7. *facepalm* Later, I realised one of them had strangely cost two dollars less. Anyway, I exchanged it today. The cover of 7 is bent but it's better than no volume 7. Am trying not to pay attention. Curse my obsessiveness over books. ><
*Speaking of Demon Diary, my closing thoughts: it ended a little vaguely, and I would have liked it if Raenef and Eclipse had kissed at least once. Or something. (Although being a CLAMP fangirl, am rather used to frustration on that front. -_-;) That said, SO CUTE. Am left with warm fuzzy feeling.
*The dolphin cruise was really good, despite the massive sunburn (dude, I'm still peeling now ><), but the cruise I went on YESTERDAY with my brother and sister was even better. Same boat, different cruise; we went out on the open ocean for a bit (OMG WHEEE WAVES!) to snorkel in a cove off one of the islands. The snorkeling was good (saw manta rays! and a woobiegong, which is a kind of shark), but the best bits were when Rohan and I went in the bow net and got completely soaked by the waves (we had to get out after a while because it was getting too dangerous, but the most dangerous bit was the getting out itself. A wave came when I was half over the rail. o.o) and STEERING THE BOAT. I drove the boat for 15 minutes! Dude, that was just plain cool. AND no sunburn.
*SO much with the missing people. Sometimes I'd just be sitting there going, "I wonder how Eugenie is." "I wonder what Kelsey's doing." "Does Ji miss me?" "AUGH I want Frar's opinion on this chapter of angels! ;;" "Wah I want to show Cori this and write fic with her and stuff!" and so on. Lots of people I want to catch up with. Must try to get etrangere on AIM! *has no AIM on this computer sadly* The grand height of sadness, however, was: "I can't sleep. I miss Mari. And sis. Blah. Hey wow, I can envision their entire house! With every room and all the furniture and everything! Even the garden! ... oh my god I am SO sad."
*Trying to deal with two neurotic poodles omg. Pay attention to one, and the other gets into a snit and looks really sulky and miserable. I have yet to figure out a way to balance them, as usually they won't submit to being on my lap at the same time. (Though they were today, weirdly enough. Not that it'll matter since I'm going home tomorrow.) Anyway, Jackson is just odd. Sometimes when he growls it's like purring, only REALLY VICIOUS SOUNDING. He wants you to pat him- he tries to crawl into your lap. Whilst growling. oO; He's so cute though. He slept on my bed for two nights- I think he's getting attached to me. <3
*After the sunburn spent many days inside wearing a shirt and green paste. XD It's not as bad as it sounds, the cream made the burn stop hurting as much and I spent the whole time reading books and manga and watching anime and writing. Speaking of which, on to a more detailed account of the above!
*Meine Leibe: was... in japanese. Try understanding wtf is going on when you don't even know the premise of the anime and you only understand half of what's being said. XD I seriously thought it was a shounen ai series until I looked up a summary on the net. Its creators should think about that- how gay must it be? I mean DUDE. Guys do not touch each other's faces like that and stay manly and straight. RUI AND NAOJI, I AM LOOKING AT YOU. In conclusion, v. pretty and what I understood was interesting. Endeavour to find subtitled version.
*Princess Mononoke: was just brilliant. That's all I have to say- BRILLIANT. *pause* okay I lied. I also have to say that the forest gods were SO COOL OMG, that it was very sad that the guy (Ashitaka?) didn't get to ever see his little sister again, that both the main characters are filled with cool, that the ending ROCKS and that it's just the best thing ever. Oh, and that I love the elk.
*Laputa, Castle in the Sky: I never cease to be amazed how Jiburi can make me like both the girl and boy main characters. This was beautiful. Sad, but beautiful. The granny was love. And I really just wanted to give the bad guy a right kick. XD
*Tonari no Totoro: THE TOTORO. THE CAT BUS. At first the screaming of the children annoyed me but as the movie wore on I really loved them. AND THE TOTORO. And their father. AND THE TOTORO. <3
*Neko no Ongaeshi: Well, it was incorrectly labelled as Spirited Away 2, and it was infinitely better than any such fictitious sequel would have been. XD Prince Luna and the Baron were just... the only words I can think of right now are kakkoii and suteki. ^^; Just... they were so wonderful. And charming. And eee.
*Gravitation: OKAY YES I HAVE NEVER SEEN GRAVITATION BEFORE. JUST STOP GIVING ME THAT LOOK ALL OF YOU. Found it immensely cute. Need to get another copy because although it was subtitled, the discs were scratched, so badly it couldn't even read the last few episodes. (Is episode 13 the last episode?) Was most miffed that dad, upon walking past briefly, managed both to choose a slightly (only slightly mind) dodgy moment and actually pick Shuuichi as a boy (wtf? how? must have been his voice. was v. surprised at how masculine his voice is.) and mock me. -_-;
*Flame of Recca: a very heterosexual shounen manga, just for a change. Lots of girls whose clothes randomly get wripped to shreds. XD It was fun, though. Cute. Mari, can I borrow the manga from you at some stage? Kogane Kaoru was just ADORABLE, as was Ganko-chan. Fuuko was love. Recca, despite moments of blinding stupid, was very endearing. And as much as I like Yanagi-chan, I can't help but ship Recca/Tokiya. Theirloveissobitchy. <3
*Meant to watch sister's copy of Moulin Rouge for the sake of X fusion. SOD.
*Am just over halfway through Tsubasa 2 (except for volume 1, all my Tsubasa is in jap.) It is pure love, if only for the minor moments of Touya/Yukito squee. I am so sad. XD Not just for that, though. Syaoran is always gorgeous, and I adore Fai. Am beginning to speculate over Kurogane/Fai. :D
*Finished Matantei Loki Ragnorok 2. So adorable. So... crack. And so slashy; I am now contemplating writing Loki/Narugami AND Loki/Heimdell. Wonder how it manages to be so slashy when he has three children, but possibly because one of them is a talking dog, another one is a flying... marshmellow... thing and the third is practically his butler. XD Oh, and Yamino-kun calling Fenrir onii-chan cracks me up every time. (No, really. I ended up reading that section several times to make sure I'd understood correctly, and every time I had to stop reading just to die laughing at the bizarrity. Yeah, I'm pathetic, I know.) Started Matantei Loki 1 and was taken aback by two things: the drawing style is quite different, and the tone is much darker. oO; Oh, and Mayura's a bimbo but we knew that. *g*
*Tokyo Babylon 5: Yeah, just rain the angst down, CLAMP. Go on, I don't mind. THIS ACTUALLY MADE ME CRY. Because of the old man. ;; *will probably be a complete wreck after 6 and 7* How am I supposed to crack this up in my rewrite? ... no, must not think like that. I managed to crack up the ending, I can crack up the tales of woe. *determined*
*Dream Saga 3: I love Dream Saga. It's very shoujo, but it's cute. And it gives me happy memories of a time when I couldn't read Japanese and Mari read it to me. <3
*Am just starting on chapter two of Mirage of Blaze. (There were a few things in chapter one I couldn't get. Can I check them with you sometime, Mari?) Main conclusions so far are that Morino is an even bigger ditz in the books than she is on the show and she has NO gaydar. Also that there is something hilariously funny about Kousaka's lips being canonically described as red and glossy. XD
*Continued writing the Kanshousha Diaries. Sometimes I question my sense of humour. Should maybe count the number of times various characters have written "Kagetora SO dense." *grin*
*Wrote an awful lot of words of angels. Went from maybe 3 scenes in to the last scene of the current story/chapter/thing. Probably wrote somewhere between 10000-15000 words; don't precisely know as was using wordpad. Yay the angst and crack etc. Need to update at
heavenlychaos along with all the backlog. Posted the notice over at fictionpress. Wonder what the word limit on an LJ post is.
*Am on the SECOND LAST SCENE of the Monster Fic Of Doom. I believe it is now over 15000 words. Takaya and Naoe are filled with stupid. However there is only sex and an ending scene between me and completion and then lucky lucky Cori gets to tell me whether to scrap the last 10K words or just do a big cleanup. *g*
*1.10am, am SO sleepy, have probably forgotten heaps of important things and have only just caught up on email.
*Like chocolate mint fudge! I did eventually persuade my mum to buy me a slice and SO YUM. Mmm. Rohan bought himself a coffee fudge wombat, not because he particularly likes the flavour but because he's obsessed with wombats and it looked cool.
*... Meant to buy Jing manga. Silly me.
*Speaking of buying, the full loot of anime/manga: Demon Diary 4-7, Dream Saga 3, TB5, Tsubasa 2-8, Matantei Loki Ragnorok anime, RG Veda anime
*And the loot from Shoal Bay: ming dynasty china earrings, hot pink sarong, coconut-style sarong clip
*Went to the beach a total of twice, once to the still beach and once to the one with waves. Ho yeah, my hermit-ness trumps all. Although it was partially the sunburn. <<; But in an funny moment of irony, at the wave beach I swam to the shallows to avoid being dunked by my brother and got dumped by a wave, which was in fact more painful. *sweatdrop*
*I did Tai Chi with my brother- he hired a dvd out from the library. That was cool. Also kind of amusing, from the perspective of seeing Rohan do TAI CHI.
*Jive Bunny and the Master Mixers is like, my ULTIMATE for happy/dance music. It's been the tape/CD we've played, often on car trips, since I was a child. It's da BOMB.
*I managed to avoid fish and chips for the whole two weeks. The only seafood I had, in fact, was calamari. GO ME.
*There's probably still stuff I'm forgetting, but my legs are stiff and I'm tired and have to get up in the morning for car trip to Canberra (yuck, I hate car trips), so I should probably sleep now. If there's anything important that has happened in my absence, comment and link away!
I'll be back on the net from about... mm. 3pm GMT+10? Maybe earlier, almost certainly not later. And then I'll be back to my usual trick of living online.
I'm so happy to see you all again. <3

Sorry, I haven't read your whole update yet. I read bits and pieces but I sorta want to get to my room and get some dokusho done before sleeping sooo...
WELCOME BACK! Hope you had heaps of fun :D

Date: 2005-02-12 02:55 pm (UTC)I'm glad too! Although though someone suggested that maybe it would be too hard to arrange for me to get over there by bus and that it could wait until after Valentines' Day, at which I went "Hah! NO! We missed the one last year, god dammit!" *grin* You've got school, but hopefully I can see you after your done? Or something? We're sorting out details tomorrow via phone.
I'm going to get some (very pathetic) dokusho done tooo. Along the lines of, "Blah blah blah kanji I don't know blah blah blah... Okay, I've read a page, sleep now!" Although I can read now! Sort of!
I did, yes! And I miss you lots, sis. <3 You'll have to tell me all about Nihon and our new otouto!
(psssssst, I finally finished your birthday/christmas fic! in time for christmas day even!)

Date: 2005-02-12 04:51 pm (UTC)but the best bits were when Rohan and I went in the bow net and got completely soaked by the waves (we had to get out after a while because it was getting too dangerous, but the most dangerous bit was the getting out itself. A wave came when I was half over the rail. o.o) and STEERING THE BOAT. I drove the boat for 15 minutes! Dude, that was just plain cool. AND no sunburn.
Wayy cool ! I'm so envious ! I love sailing !
I <3 Mononoke hime.
His sister ? I always though the girl was his girlfriend >_>
I love both those main characters... San is... well San hits all my wild-girls-who-lives-with-wolves buttons. It's one of my kin XD the sequence when Ashitaka meets her for the first time, with the blood on her mouth *_* lovely
Ashitaka i love because he's such a perfect, good guy, ya know, so much the honourable prince... and yet somehow, he manages to be believable, to be loveable and not to be so good-it-annoys-you. I don't know how to explain it. I've met very few genuinely kind and chilvarous characters in fiction I could love, and Ashitaka is one of the very few.
I loved the elks too, but I love the wolves even better ^_~
*Gravitation Gravi is so much... fun. Insane crackful weird fun. I love Yuki, and Ryuichi, and K. ^^
Am beginning to speculate over Kurogane/Fai. :D Join the crowd ! <33
Finished Matantei Loki Ragnorok 2. So adorable. So... crack. And so slashy; I am now contemplating writing Loki/Narugami AND Loki/Heimdell.
Yeah ! I want to read some good Loki fics !
Wonder how it manages to be so slashy when he has three children, but possibly because one of them is a talking dog, another one is a flying... marshmellow... thing and the third is practically his butler.
Punyan-chan isn't Loki's child. The third children is Hel, the goddess of the underworld. Err anyway, mythology always makes good slash. ^^
Tokyo Babylon 5: Yeah, just rain the angst down, CLAMP. Go on, I don't mind. THIS ACTUALLY MADE ME CRY. Because of the old man. ;;
Ah yes... ;_; that passage is so sad... and yet.. the old man is happy at the end. Tokyo Babylon is dark in so many ways while appearing to be light at the beginning. It's a very interesting work. I meant, apart from the Seishirou x Subaru thing ^^
And I'm so glad to see you back ! ^^

Date: 2005-02-13 06:00 am (UTC)It WAS really cool, yeah.
Hm, maybe she is. I was probably paying less attention to the japanese than I should of, but the subtitles said "little sister"... <<; Anyway, San's intro is one of the coolest ever. And like I said, I'm really amazed at how likable they made both their main characters, especially with how they managed to make Ashitaka be both good but not irritating.
The wolves AND the elks. Both love. <3
I really want to see the end of Gravitation PROPERLY. Hm. Will do something about that sometime.
When I finish my volumes of Tsubasa, I am going to go in search of Kurogane/Fai fic to read!
And maybe write it! AUGH NO BAD SELF HAVE ENOUGH TO WRITE.I'd love to write Matantei Loki fic because I like to branch out on occasion. I'll have to wait for some good inspiration. *contemplates*
Ooooops. I thought maybe it was like Yamino-kun with a different name. Can't remember where I got that idea. Oh well! *g*
He was, but... it was just the whole setup, I guess. And the implication that this is a problem in Japan. *sigh*
Am very glad to be back! Can't wait to talk to you again on AIM! <3

Is there a Tsubasa 2??? Wow, I'm still reading Vol 2 of Tsubasa 1.
Erm, I need to ask you something, well, I could look it up myself but, well, I did but it's all really boring stuff and the question is /write an interesting fact about the monarch that reigned during Shakespeares time/ I think that's Elizabeth I. She sorta is boring...nyet. Sorry if you like her!
Anyway!
Jyane! Got to finish the sheet.

Date: 2005-02-13 06:23 am (UTC)I HAVE seen Recca, yes! Mikagami is lovely. <3 But I am very tempted to slash him with Recca. I'm such a fangirl at heart. *sweatdrop*
Tsubasa 2 and 3 are out in English, I saw- I got volumes 2-8 in Japanese, though, because they were cheaper, the covers were prettier, there were more volumes and it takes longer to read so it's better value for money. ^^

Date: 2005-02-13 09:44 am (UTC)Princess Mononoke, Laputa, and Totoro are all such good films. (But I can't think of Totoro without remembering a music video I saw a few years ago set to Totoro scenes...The song used was the dub opening music for Dragonball Z. XD)
You're writing a big Mirage of Blaze fanfic? How nice!
