And some amusing excerpts from my Torts lectures:
"No one's having any luck getting a second hand copy of Luntz and Hambly? No? Try accosting 2nd years in the hall. 'GIMME YOUR LUNTZ AND HAMBLY OR ELSE!' ... which is assault. Or you could lock them in a room. 'I won't let you out until you give me your Luntz and Hambly!' And that's false imprisonment. But you won't KNOW that until you get your textbook!"
"Can you sue a child for battery if they jump on you at a party?"
"Well... I don't know. I mean, it's complicated. For one thing what's acceptable conduct in a child is broader than what is in an adult. For another... well, people don't exactly sue children. I mean, my daughter bites me. No, really! She bites me on the ankle, quite hard and doesn't let go. The reaction amuses her. Obviously, I'm not suing my daughter. Although I might be quite concerned if her classmates tried it..."
