WHERE ARE PEOPLE WHO SPEAK FLUENT JAPANESE WHEN I NEED TO HAVE BREAKDOWNS AT THEM.

OH MY GOD I CAN'T DO THIS COURSE. I DON'T UNDERSTAND THE READING. WHAT THE HELL IS 'KORE DAKE NO MONO' ANYWAY? I understand the words but they don't make any sense together!

And I almost wrote morphemes instead of words!

*bursts into tears*

(Just imagine that I'm telling you about my bizarre dream where I got arrested for criminal assualt and came up with a logical legal defense and then had sex with the phantom of the opera even though I was gay, okay? NB, I actually did have that dream last night.)

*snuggle* Calm down. It's okay.

Stop panicking, and take a look at it again.

thanks. *sigh* I know I was warned that Law/Asian was a really work-intensive degree, but it's not until now that I really appreciate it. I get SO much reading, and it's only worse when the reading is in another language. or in the case of foundations, is boring as all hell. >

i take it switching to arts is out of the question? *yet more sympathetic hugs* how many hours reading do you get?

hm. Well, for my first lecture of linguistics, I had to do 60 pages. (thankfully I don't have any work I need to do between now and next lecture) Torts I got around 30-60 pages, but the type is smaller and I'm going to get that more consistently than linguistics reading. Foundations was 30 pages boring wanky crap, which is again weekly. In Japanese it's only one and a half pages this week, but it's three pages next week, and you also need to take into consideration that a page is much longer in japanese than in english (due to the kanji, which this is filled with) and also that it takes me a much longer time to read in Japanese.

Um. So if I count all the preparation reading for my first lectures... I think I spent 2-3 hours on torts, 2-3 hours on foundations, 3-4 hours on linguistics and so far I've spent four hours on the japanese, which I am not quite halfway through. (technically it counts as prep reading as it's connected to the first lecture. I have to do more by tuesday for the second lecture.)

wednesdays are better, I have less lectures. also I have work on thursdays how about you?

it's not that I don't LIKE my courses (well, except foundations). they're just hard. ^^; I'm glad to hear you're having fun, though.

that reminds you, I need to send you this song from a musical called Avenue Q. the musical is like fucked up sesame street- the song is 'it sucks to be me'. the reason I want to send it to you is... well, I'll quote some of the lines for you:

"What do you do with a BA in english? what is my life going to be? 3 years of college and a whole lot of knowledge have earned me this useless degreeeeeeee! I can't pay the bills yet, cause I have no skills yet- the world is a big scary place!"

with this really bobby tune! *grin*

WOA WOA WOA! NEISAMA! Calm...down...haa.

/I'm/ here who /does/ speak fluent Japanese but DON'T BREAKDOWN! IT'S NOT GOOD FOR YOUR HEALTH! Ok? >.1

Koredakeno mono= It is only that things thing, does that make sense? so, say you want to tell someone that /this actor is only in this movie/ you might say 'kore dake no hito' if someone asked you 'kore dake ni dete imasuka?' or something. It can mean different stuff in different context but... try that. Sorry I have horrible inalegies!

Neisama, your in that class coz you deserve to be and it's the class they reckon you'll show potential in, k? See how you go, it's only been a week, things might have to have getting used to or might settle down, yeah?

huggle!

Thanks, sis. *hug* That does kind of help, yeah. The full context was... hang on... "Jikushoukai ni tsuite no shoukaisuru jikou wo kuwashiku setsumeishitekimashita. Koredake ooku no koumoku ga arukoto ni odorokareta hazu desu. Koredake no mono ga areba, donna baai demo taisho dekiru hazu desu."

Which... I do know what it says, basically. So it was silly to have a complete spazz out. It was more that I'm afraid of the assessment, when it comes, and there is an awful lot of reading. ^^; But, I've decided to see how I go.
