Went to film group with Victoire tonight- first movie was Hero (which is actually even kind of better the second time and STILL made me cry) and the second movie was a Japanese movie called Zatoichi (the blind swordsman) set in... Edo, I think. It didn't actually say.

Anyway, time to squee about the second movie.

It had anachronisms! Tapdancing peasants! A crossdressing prostitute/geisha! Cool fight scenes! Samurai! Humour! Angst! Yakuza! Random inexplicable ninja! Tapdancing peasants!

... Okay, so I liked the peasants. They tapdanced in geta, it was great! :D AND I understood about 3/4s of what they said without the subtitles. Amwahahaha.

In other news, I just had dinner and it is a long weekend. <3

There would have been wailing at least the first time had I not been in the middle of a movie theatre. <<;

You DO! And the crossdressing geisha is really cool too. I mean, the character. He has a sad angsty past, but he is love. <3

Zatoichi is good? I wanted to see it when it came out, but me being me and thus really disorganised, I didn't go. Should I?

Also, Hero is brilliant. I love Maggie Cheung and Donnie whatever-his-name-is (I can't remember it but I will as soon as I hit 'POST COMMENT'). XD

It IS! A bit gory in parts and the gore effects are a little bodgy, but it is cool. <3

AND it has *tap dancing peasants*, which automatically makes anything cool in my book. *insane happy induced by tap dancing peasant*

IT IS LIKE SAMURAI CHAMPLOO BUT REAL PEOPLE. Um, and tap dancing instead of hip hop.

YES! *cherishes mental image*

By the way, I have the first two chapters of Champloo scanlated for you. Do you want them?

Apparently those scanlations are slightly dodgy- I've read the first chapter in Japanese, but...

Ah, I haven't actually looked at them yet. I got them from the Champloo community yesterday and kinda forgot about them until now.

I'm supposed to be doing a different set, actually. I haven't got the second chapter yet, though...

Ah, that makes sense.

Where are you going to post them? I want to check so I can see the translation. *wants Champloo manga like wo!*

I just do the scripts. Apparently we're doing the whole first volume before we're putting up the scanlations, or something... I have the script for the first chapter, though. And the japanese scans.

Is it hireable? It'll be cool if it was, though I doubt it. It's japanese and too foreign.

Hm, I don't know. It might be- I mean, if they bothered subtitling it it can't be TOO obscure, right?
