Mar. 29th, 2005 02:15 pmMy brother just rang me in the middle of my jap tut. Now THAT was embarrassing. Why am I such a fool? ;; I still love him, though, because he was ringing to ask if I wanted him to pick up some Sarah McLachlan cds for me at this cheap cd store in Sydney. (I found this out from subsequent emails, given I basically said "IN CLASS GTG KTHXBAI" over the phone *g*)
*uses the opportunity of return emails to bug him for help with her legal assignment*
In other news, I haven't done my reading and I couldn't sleep last night, so I got up at 1am to write fic. And went back to bed at 2am. I'm so tired. I'm so dumb. One more lecture and then I can go hoooooooooome.
PS, daylight saving is a bitch, because no one from America will be online when I get home. >_<
ETA: Also, I haven't worn the same top or the same pair of earrings twice to uni yet this term. I thought you all needed to know this very trivial piece of information. *g*

Date: 2005-03-29 04:38 am (UTC)Okay, basically, Daylight Saving Time is this thing they do so you get an extra hour of sunlight at night instead of in the morning during summer, because the days are longer. Basically, at the beginning of summer, you set your clock forward an hour, so essentially you go straight from midnight to 1am and you either go to bed early or get less sleep.
At the end of Summer, they put it back where it was, so it's like you gain an hour. Midnight-1am happens twice, sort of.
However, because summer is ending here and spring is starting there, we're doing the opposite thing- I'm setting my clock back an hour, and you're setting yours forward one. When it's summer in Australia, I'm 16 hours ahead of you, so when it's midnight there it's 4pm here. For this week, I've already set my clock back, so it's 15 hours- add three hours to whatever time it is there and flip the AM/PM around, basically. When you set your clock forward, it'll be reduced to 14 hours.
Essentially, when it's midnight there it'll be 2pm here. Add two hours and flip the AM/PM. Which means you're more likely to be in bed by the time I get home.
Does that make sense?
