May. 30th, 2005 08:42 pmTranslating famous historical quotes is not, in fact, love. See here:
"鞭声粛粛 夜河を過る 暁に見る 千兵の大牙を擁するを"
I do know what it says. Mostly. I hope. Only it's not that easy to word in English. So... suggestions, oh ye Japanese speakers on the flist?
In other news, have watched all 41 subbed episodes of Kyou Kara Maou in a very short space of time. Have this to say: ASLFKJSLFBJSLDFKG CONRAAAAAAAAAAD! *DIES*

Date: 2005-05-30 01:56 pm (UTC)I lack expertise in Japanese poetry, but according to this translation (http://ejmas.com/proceedings/GSJSA04alexanian.html) that line would be: "After we crossed the river in the night by paying attention, even to the sounds of whips, we found that the banner of the general of our enemy was surrounded by a great number of soldiers" (there's also a more literal line-by-line break down). Full poem in Japanese here (http://www.geocities.co.jp/SweetHome/1873/bensei.htm) if that helps.

Date: 2005-05-31 05:20 am (UTC)Still, Wolfram will ever be my favorite. Seriously, though... just wait until you get to episode 45. It killed me. I'm currently the undead after that episode. XD;; (Poor Wolfram never gets a break).

And cats, as a rule. Some dogs I absolutely adore (such as my husky Theo) but for the most part, I prefer the disposition of cats... they tend to be more... headstrong.

Date: 2005-05-31 08:08 am (UTC)EHEE. Recently someone on my flist came up with the theory that who you ship Yuuri with depends on whether you prefer cats/dogs/other, with Wolfram/Conrad/other. It's worked on everyone I've asked except my girlfriend, who is naturally contrary. *giggle*
