tammaiyaLong story short with my PSII, the modchipping place is literally the edge of Canberra so mum was understandably unhappy about the time/petrol/etc required to go there, and wasn't going to make two trips, so rang the guy to see how he was going and he tried to hurry it and bodged it. I'm not too upset, though, because he bought a new PSII and fitted the modchip to that. We're going to pick it up 3pm Saturday.
Tales of Phantasia going well. Beat the Coliseum. Have all spells, summons, etc except for Arche's second last spell, which is in the final dungeon. Haven't got all the titles, but some of them I can't get on this playthrough because I missed stuff from the past segment and can't go back, and some I just can't be sodded (levelling the entire party to 99? Yeah, RIGHT.) so I'm near the end.
There is a novelisation of Advent Children being released chapter by chapter to the official site. I may or may not decide to translate this.
(Okay, so I probably will because I'm an incurable geek. So sue me. *g*)
And now, because I've been lurking around looking at sites about FF7 - Dirge of Cerberus in both English and Japanese, what I have learned!
* It comes out in Japan in a week and in the US on the first of June
* It's set 3 years after the end of FF7 (So a year after Advent Children, although there hasn't been any mention of how the two fit with each other)
* Vincent is the main character, but I'm sure everyone who cares already knew that. The gameplay style is first-person shooter/RPG; there are similarities to Kingdom Hearts.
* The new enemy is a group called Deep Ground Soldiers, created by Ex-President ShinRa. I assume they mean Rufus' father, not Rufus. They're both male and female, and wear the SOLDIER insignia. I strongly suspect Hojo's hand in their existence, though that's just my speculation. They were trapped under Midgar due to the Meteor Crisis. There is an elite group of five amongst the DG Soldiers called Yvet (pronounced Zvet, Russian for colour): Azul (Spanish for blue, male, was scouted by the Turks as a SOLDIER in Before Crisis episode 4); Shelke (Orange-- Indian word? female, young, helping Azul track down Vincent); Rosso (Italian-- red. female, cruel and unstable); Nero (Latin-- black. male. same colouring as Vincent. has mechanical wings, wears a straight jacket.); and Weiss (German-- white. male. feared by all, it's said that no one in the DG soldiers has ever seen him.)

You can also sort of see Shelke (chick with twin lightsaber nunchaku thing) and Azul (big hulking blue-haired guy), Nero (dressed all in black, has wings, a bit fuzzy in the pics) and Rosso (very fuzzy, chick with red hair and cloak) in the bottom shots.
In the bottom right screenshot, Shelke is being ordered to find the Ancient materia by Nero.

* There is some connection between Vincent, Lucrecia and the DG soldiers.
* Reeve is pretty, and has a cool costume. He kind of looks like a cross between Aragorn and Will from PotC. I am not unaware of the irony inherent in this description. Anyway, he's the leader of an organisation called World Regeneration Organisation (WRO) which is helping restore the planet post-Meteor. He has a surname. That surname is "Tuesti". Cait Sith is involved somehow, but there is no indication how.
* Yuffie is head of intelligence for WRO. She has one outfit that's pretty much her outfit from FF7 and looks cool, and one new outfit that looks rather silly.

* Speaking of the above-named: Cid is Commander in WRO, and captain of an airship named after his wife... well, it was originally romanised Shera in FF7, but the katakana read Shiera. Maybe it's meant to be Sheila? Anyway. Cloud is involved in some unknown way; there is something about him fighting again alongside Fenrir? I can't read all the kanji and I'm at work, so no dictionary. Tifa is living with Cloud and Marin-- Marlene?-- in Edge, according to one magazine article; in another it says she's still running Seventh Heaven, and it also says something about Cloud but again with the kanji. Barret is currently searching the world for a new source of energy.
* Shalua is a scientist with WRO. Part of her body is mechanical. Has a vendetta against ShinRa. She looks pretty cool. See above link.
* Hojo looks like a slimeball. Who is surprised? NOT ME. XD He and Lucrecia are both in flashbacks.

Hey, speaking of meaning-- did I tell you that the kanji for ShinRa mean "Holy Rome"? BECAUSE OMFG, THEY DO. I almost DIED laughing! Talk about mixing your metaphors! You've got a company called Holy Rome running a city named after the Norse serpent Midgard! XD
Maybe he had to clean up a bit when he became the leader of WRO and was no longer someone's secretary?
