After about three days, I have finally finished [livejournal.com profile] shineko's birthday fic! It is here. *beams*

And, since I promised Ji and Becky I would do a celebratory fic request meme after my exams, which I decided to postpone until the above-mentioned fic was finished: request away! Usual rules apply, and I know most people aren't even online right now feel free to leave them in my absence to come back to tomorrow.

:D!

(and I'll post the drabbles from the last meme at the same time as I post these ones, because I forgot to earlier.)

Since my computer has gone 'asplodey and I don't know when it'll be back, I demand things to cheer me up! Thus, I feel no guilt about either of these requests. (Pick the one you like better, of course.)

NANA, Takumi/Nana-chan (with Nana/Nana-chan on the side?), "strawberry". (Whether you reference the glasses or not is up to you, of course.)

Hanakimi, Akiha/Umeda, "overdue".

Hachi makes Nana feel a little weird sometimes, all possessive and obsessive and almost masculine. While she's used to feeling possessive-- she's still not that good at the whole "having friends" thing, and knows she has a tendency to cling with fierce, jealous tenacity to those she wants to keep near her-- Ren makes her feel the opposite. Independent. Feminine.

Nana isn't sure which she prefers. She needs them both, but she was okay without Ren for a year whereas being separated from Hachi sends her crazy, frantic, panicked. She pushes at Ren for freedom and tries desperately to chain Hachi to her; Ren is her weakness and Hachi is her strength.

For all that the choice seem easy when she lays it out in her mind like that, it's really not. She craves Ren, loves him, needs him even when he's drowning and suffocating her, and she loved him long before she met Hachi.

Beyond that, Nana's obsession with Hachi is just as unhealthy as her relationship with Ren. She thought maybe it was just her own possessory brand of friendship, but it's starting to go too far. She looks at Hachi and wishes she had been born male so she could be the perfect boyfriend Hachi is always looking for, thinks about what Hachi's strawberry lipbalm tastes like, wants to push her down and keep her close and steal away all of that open heart so it is closed and focussed like Nana's own and Hachi always loves her the most. Nana wants to keep Hachi in her own yard, closer than close, and now just having her date Nobu wouldn't suffice even if Nobu hadn't screwed up because that's not close enough anymore.

But Nana wasn't born male, and Hachi has Takumi, and Nana still needs Ren. She sometimes thinks what if, what if Hachi hadn't insisted on reuniting Nana with Ren which would mean she had never met Takumi and it would still just be the two of them, single and living in their happy, strawberry-tinted apartment together.

Even then, though, she wonders if they could have given each other what they needed. They were perfectly happy, and she wants to believe it could have lasted, but Hachi was always going to find a boyfriend eventually because that's just who she is. Nana tells herself that could have been me but she's not sure it could have, not when they're both girls. Hadn't she told Misato herself?

That's impossible.

Whether it is or isn't, though, Nana will never find out, because things are as they are. Ren has lost the plot; Hachi is gone; Nana is off the rails.

Their pretty strawberry-coloured bubble had been destroyed when those two glasses shattered like a broken heart, and now nothing Nana can do will stop reality from pouring inside.

~~~
I am SO SORRY this is so depressing. It's not like this couple needed anymore angst. D:
:evil idea: Haruie and Kosaka, over coffee/tea/sake/whatever. If you do this, I will love you FOREVER.
"You're the best mediator the Uesugi have, then?" Kousaka asked, raising an eyebrow as he took a sip from his sake. Haruie noticed, with no little envy, that he managed not to leave a lipstick smudge on the glass. "I must admit I'm a little disappointed. I was hoping you would send Saburo."
"The only mediator," Haruie corrected him, rolling her eyes. "Nagahide doesn't care, Kagetora is too quick-tempered and Naoe is only reasonable until you start pushing his buttons."
Kousaka smirked. "Are you implying that you don't trust me not to attempt to infuriate Saburo or Naoe?"
Haruie's expression turned serious as she stared down at her glass. "We don't know what you're expecting to get out of this truce," she said eventually. "It's hard to know what side you're on at any moment, and you don't do anything without some kind of ulterior motive. So no, we don't trust you."
"Is that so?"
"Besides," she added, a little dryly, "you always seem to make a point of upsetting Naoe whenever you can."
"Would I do a thing like that?" Kousaka asked rhetorically, and chuckled. "He makes it too easy."
While Haruie thought that Kousaka had a definite point, with a vague feeling of guilt for her disloyalty and a silent apology to Naoe, Naoe and Kagetora's relationship was really not the issue at hand. "Back to the subject, what about the truce? We're not agreeing until we know why you're doing this."
Kousaka's expression gave nothing away, thoughtful and slightly condescending. "I have what you might call a soft spot for Saburo," he said smoothly, a hint of a smile lingering on those painted lips. "He used to be one of ours, after all."
"A lot of people have a soft spot for Kagetora," Haruie conceded. It was true. A lot of people also hated Kagetora, to be fair, some at the same as having that weakness for him, and sometimes in that fondness they sought to destroy him, but it was undeniable that many were drawn to him.
She still didn't trust Kousaka, but then, none of the others did either. Truce or not, they would all be keeping a close watch on him. The warring clans had always lived by shifting allegiances; a temporary truce was still useful while it lasted.
"Fine, we'll accept that for now," she said, and then banged her fist down on the table. "Enough business, let's drink!"
:squueeeeee!: Yay! It's awesome and Haruie and Kosaka and YAY. And Haruie being all "Let's drink!" is so awesome, and I can't form a coherent response. Needless to say, I DO, in fact, love you forever.
