tammaiyaWell, I'm back. Still quite tired, and was rather out of it last night, so if I was a bit spacy on IM, sorry for that. Overall had a very good time. Am master of pictionary-- won by a mile both times we played on two different teams, and teammates said I'm very easy to play pictionary with. Like, Claire said, I emit rays. Pictionary rays.
Because I just explained about the Interesting Wildlife to Kelsey I'm too lazy to do it again, so c&p.
Kattaiya: we were staying in a caravan
Kattaiya: where there were kangaroos all over the place and some of them you could just walk up and pat. day before yesterday, we were eating lunch outside, and the kangaroos kept coming up. We had to full on shove them away and say "NO! BAD! KANGAROOS DO NOT EAT HAM!"
and there was this younger one that tapped at my foot with its front paws and looked at me with soulful eyes just like Ebony does. XD
Kattaiya: and the King Parrots... well, we had sunflower seeds in the caravan for bird feeding. So yesterday, before we left, Mari went out with some birdseed. VWOOMP, flock of birds, just like that. And the rest of us went out and joined her. So you have these fairly large parrots sitting one on each arm, and occasionally one on your head (even though there's no birdseed up there) and then one will come flying at one of the ones on your arm and be like WARK and they will have bird battles ON YOUR ARM while you're like eek!
Also a bird tried to eat my finger and it was painful. But mostly the mauling was because I didn't have long sleeves and now have claw scratches on my forearms. *g*
Mari and I had the double bed, which was nice, and between us we had brought a lot of blankets (and also shared body warmth) so we didn't get cold except on the first night when the blankets kept slipping off in opposite directions. Didn't sleep much though, especially not on the first night, because I just don't sleep easily anyway and never sleep well the first night in a bed that isn't mine. Or without music. On the second night I was bright enough to use my discman.
It was very bad for my diabetes, though, so it was just as well it was only 3 days. I was bouncing from just below 2 to almost 20. Three 19 readings, one daily. <<
Today I had to go see the endocrinologist to get a different brand of base insulin. I don't like the pen as much, it's not as classy looking or as easy to use. But the new insulin should stop the problem I have with gaps around the evening/morning where I have no insulin in my system. Then I had to go have a blood test and they had to poke around with the needle to find a vein. Arm hurts.
Changing the subject completely, I might be buying an ex-government laptop for $330. Wireless internet, 30gb harddrive, 256 mb ram, pIII m 933 MHz, dvd rom, 12.1". It's a bit small and not that fast, but it's faster than the PC I had before I upgraded last year, it's light (1.9kg), it has wireless net and a fair amount of harddrive and for a laptop it's dirt cheap.

Date: 2006-06-29 04:15 am (UTC)So I've swapped to Lantus, which is a different brand and is supposed to be longer lasting and more constant. It's not on PBS yet, but my endocrinologist has sample boxes with five vials in them, and that might last until it comes out on the PBS list in September.
