Aug. 10th, 2006 06:12 pmI am staging a caffeine intervention. CAFFEINE, OH SWEET CAFFEINE.
Well, not that sweet. It's instant coffee. But, you know. I think I've had a pattern of 5, 6, 7, 5 hours sleep per night this week, so it's definitely sweet in the FIGURATIVE way.
Dot points from Tueday to today, because I CAN.
Tuesday
* Discovered Ceilidh's housewarming is the weekend before I have two major pieces of law assessment due. Vaguely concerned about the whole going to Sydney for the weekend thing. Decided I couldn't go visit Dani's home with her this weekend, because I can't really afford to lose two weekends so close together.
* I can make Native American clicking noises! I learned how when we were doing articulatory phonetics. *beams* I can also distinguish between and pronounce at will American rs, Japanese r-equivalents, rolled rs and Australian rs. Well, okay, I could already do this, but now I know exactly what I'm doing.
* Dani, Anne and I decided to go to law revue next friday and bought our tickets. Tristan hasn't bought his ticket yet and is still deciding whether to go Friday or Saturday night.
* Ad for an episode of House both amused and disgusted me. Parents wanted to know why I started laughing when the ad was all "WHAT WOULD YOU DO IF YOUR BEST FRIEND *DIED*?!" to which I was like "best friend my ARSE, I've seen the episode and they're lesbians!" and then proceeded to explain the episode to the parents.
Wednesday
* All law classes were cancelled/rescheduled for the funeral of a faculty member, so I only had one class, written japanese. 9-10. Mari had no classes so she came and sat in on the class and then we hung out at the ANU. We in fact spent several hours loitering in libraries; first I showed her the Law Library where we found an All England Law Report published in 1900 (us: wow, they trust ANU law students with century-old books!) and then we went to the Menzies library (asian studies, largely) and skimmed the Japanese books.
* We found a favourite series. Six books; the first one was Paipu no Kemuri (pipe smoke), then Zoku Paipu no Kemuri (the continuation of pipe smoke), Zokuzoku Paipu no Kemuri (the further continuation of pipe smoke), Mada Paipu no Kemuri (still pipe smoke), Madamada Paipu no Kemuri (yet more pipe smoke), and Mata Paipu no Kemuri (pipe smoke again). When Mari flicked through one there was a long list of food.
* There was also an 100 volume series of books called things like "cat" and "sky" which were written in old Japanese. Old in the sense that some of the hiragana characters it used don't even exist anymore, like 'yi'. Omou was 'omofu'. Stuff like that.
* Got home about 2-ish. Wasted several hours trying to sort out my degree, YET AGAIN, and railed futilely at Law for running too many courses in first semester and making my life difficult. Contemplated Japanese honours. Beginning to really want to do it. It takes another year. May not finish uni until half way through 2012. Hm.
* Did uni work from 5.30 to 10; Legal Theory reading for the first 3-ish hours and then Japanese. Despite myself am sort of enjoying Legal Theory, at least the current part of it. Am succumbing to the wankery. Uh oh. At 10 tried to find recipes in japanese newpapers, and got frustrated and gave up at 10.30 to unadvisably find a very long fic on the net. At about 11.30 mum helped me find a recipe, going through the newpapers I had from last semester, which took half an hour. And I still had to do the onomatopoeia exercise; find 3 examples of mimetics in the paper and explain their usage in japanese. Between doing the newspaper exercises and finishing the ridiculously long fic I didn't go to bed until 4. *cries*
Thursday
* Remember that whole law classes being cancelled thing from Wednesday? Legal Theory tute rescheduled to 1-2 today, giving me 4 hours of uni straight from 10-2. (the last three hours all being law, the first being japanese.)
* Almost DIED OF BOREDOM in the International Law library tute. Played Narikiri Dungeon on laptop through said tute.
* Continued to play Narikiri dungeon through Legal Theory lecture when not taking notes. Was just going through a dungeon so could listen at the same time. Richard didn't believe at first that I could actually read it.
* Continued to play on and off through Legal Theory tute. God I love my laptop, I can play games in boring classes (well, only the IL tute was boring, but I like to have something to multitask on because of my goldfish-sized attention span) and still look like I'm working. Fwahaha.
Then I went home, and now I'm at work, and we're not open next Thursday night so I have no work then. Am a mixture between YAY FREE and feeling broke. Being exceedingly tired, did, as previously mentioned, hit the coffee.
Anyway. This was typed about halfway through the message; am now feeling tired and headachey and stomach-achey, but for amusement:
I. AM SO. HOPPED UP. ON CAFFEINE!!!!!!!! in the twitching a lot and giggling inanely at nothing kind of way AHAHAHAHA only I am trying not to because, y'know, at work. man I'm wired. instead of tired! *cackles and fiddles with a pen*
<-- And this is why I don't usually take mood-altering drugs like caffeine and alcohol. *sheepish*
My new printer kicks SO MUCH ARSE.
The end.

Date: 2006-08-11 12:30 am (UTC)If you haven't, you need to see one. You need to know what you should be eating and what you shouldn't. You should be long past your honeymoon period for your diabetes, and you're still getting readings that are honestly frightening and very concerning. You need to see someone to find out how to use what you eat to manage your blood sugar.

Date: 2006-08-11 03:58 am (UTC)Your not the only one who became a caffeine addict though, ya' know that 11.5 hour strait class day I had last semester I got myself totally addicted to coke-cola.
(Psychiatrist warned me a little late that with all the symptoms I have if I try anything addictive I will probably get addicted. I suppose at least it was just coke.)
I scared mum lots to sitting silently in car and suddenly starting to laugh hysterically with no reason.
Anyway I wouldn't have started rambling but I wanted to nag you about lunch!!!
when are you free?(Mon/Thursday anytime and wed after 1:30 and fri after 12:30.)
You agreed for once I won't let you forget it. *evil Laughter*

Date: 2006-08-11 04:46 am (UTC)Yeah, I was just thinking about that. Monday I only have an hour off for lunch so I'm guessing you'd probably prefer meeting up some time a little less rushed... Wednesdays would usually be an okay time but next week I have heaps of stuff due on Thursday... and usually Thursdays wouldn't be that great because of work, but we're closed in the evening all next week so I don't HAVE work next week.
Thursday?
