Sep. 14th, 2006 09:59 pmYou know, it's always when I get to work that I realise I haven't updated for a week. *muses upon this* I've got to stop doing that. Anyway, quick rundown of the week. This holidays has been much more eventful than my norm, which is... slobbing around in the house and going to bed at like 5am every day. Er.
Friday was Dani's housewarming party, or rather-- since she's been living there about 8 months now-- it was the housewarming party of one of her sharemates. All together out of the maybe 30-ish people there Dani had invited 6, 5 of us from Law (including me). It was fun to see everyone outside of uni for a change, especially since I hadn't seen Dani's place before (huge, and very nice), though I did once again prove my ditziness by leaving both my keys and my long-acting insulin at home and ringing home at like, 1.45 in the morning. "Hi, is anyone awake? Only I forgot my keys and if no one is going to let me in I'll just stay the night here--"
Mum: *picks up the phone* You're an idiot. Come home and have your insulin.
Me: ^^;
So I got home at maybe 2.15 and mum let me in. Eheh. Oddly enough she didn't get mad. My mum gets mad about the strangest things and then DOESN'T get mad at even stranger things. See also: that time when she yelled at me when she thought I was ringing to ask her to bring a textbook to uni, but when she realised I was actually saying I'd BOUGHT THE WRONG ONE (they cost about $150) immediately stopped yelling and said "oh, okay, go buy the right one and I'll pay you back."
Like, what?
Anyway, that was Friday.
Saturday I pretty much got out of bed late and then bummed around for most of the day. Mum had already gone to do the shopping by the time I got up, which was unfortunate because I needed diabetes supplies and hadn't filled out the form yet. I rang her to tell her this, and she yelled at me. (Yes, I deserved it.) She then rang multiple times to ask me what I was doing that evening, as dad had some cooking thing, Rohan was going to film group and she and Marie were going to the movies and she wanted to know if I was going with them. I kicked Rohan off the phone from his friend Gould (who had to go to work at 1am the next day, heh) to figure this out myself, because I was considering staying over at Mari's that evening and the day after was Jen's birthday. After conferring with Mari via the net, Victoria via the phone and Jen via Victoria (I couldn't get onto her but Victoire managed to), we decided that we'd all go over to Victoria's Sunday for Jen's birthday and rent movies, and that I'd go to Mari's on Monday-Tuesday instead. Since Victoria couldn't go to film group that night, I decided instead to go out with Mum and Marie.
The three of us, plus Rohan, went to get early dinner at an Italian place across the road from the Manuka cinema, which was nice except mum once again banned dessert because she's a dessert nazi. They had this REALLY NICE-SOUNDING chocolate dessert, and I'm a hopeless chocoholic. I mean, given how I've been eating this holidays it was probably just as well both diet and diabetes wise, but maaaaan.
Then Rohan split for film group and we went to see Unfolding Florence: The Many Lives of Florence Broadhurst, which was, to my surprise, a documentary. I had not been warned of this, and was gearing up to sulk my way through because I don't really like documentaries, at least not when I don't have the option to wander off and do other things at the same time, but it was actually very, very good. It was interesting, and it was funny, too.
AND I got a choctop, which almost made up for not getting dessert.
Sunday was Jen's birthday. Victoria was picking me up at 11.30; I got out of bed at 11 and was almost immediately accosted by my dad, who wanted to print an email from his laptop. I spent twenty minutes trying to get his laptop on the file/print-sharing network like mine is, and gave up in disgust when I realised I had ten minutes to eat breakfast and get dressed. ^^; Still, I didn't keep Victoire waiting TOO long, only about five minutes.
Victoria hadn't been able to get on to Chrissie, so there were 6 of us there, her and Jen and Mari and I, obviously, and Ashie and Clairee too. We got pizza for lunch-- me having recently discovered pizza hut pizza is low GI, having barely eaten any pizza at all for about a year and a half now, YES-- AND there was Black Forest Cake, which almost totally made up for the week's earlier dessert deprivation.
Then we watched Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, one of the dvds we'd hired out, and that never stops being funny. ♥ It's also now numbered amongst the few comedies Jen can stand, presumably because it's black and not romantic and thus the humour involves less embarrassing of the main characters.
After that we watched two episodes of a BBC comedy with Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders called "Let Them Eat Cake", set during the reign of Louis XVI (and Marie Antoinette) and was hilarious, if somewhat crass.
Finally, we watched the first Highlander movie, a matter of great satisfaction to me because I keep bloody seeing the fandom around on the internet and my fandom curiosity has always been a Great And Terrible Thing. As it so turns out the fandom is largely tv-based, but I cheerfully proceeded to ignore this and spoiler my way around the fic, since now I at least understand the background universe.
In my fic-reading expeditions since Sunday, I may or may not have also detoured back off into The Sentinel and Sports Night. *looks shifty*
Monday I was of course going to Mari's, but not until the evening, so in the meantime I washed my hair and even washed some of my clothes. Despite the fact that Eri wasn't coming by to pick me up until about 6, I still managed not to be ready, because (as I informed my friends when I turned up an hour late to Dani's party) I have a genetic default. Srsly. 'S why I'm always late. *halo*
So Mari and I had a nice night, plus I got to see sis again, and I didn't get sick this time. Hooray! Mari and I went through a few of her photo albums and I got to see her (and Yuka) in kimono for their 7-5-3 ceremonies. ♥
We didn't go to bed too late Monday, so I actually willingly got out of bed at about 8am Tuesday morning. Yes, I know; shock, horror, etc. The day always seems much longer when you get out of bed early. Mari and I lounged around, mostly, listening to the first ToD DJ cd and she showed me an air vocalists competition on a Japanese show (apparently you have to bop side-to-side when pretending to sing I Want It That Way. Don't Stop Me Now-- I think that's the title of the Queen song?-- absolutely WON, though. It was four baseball players. They had a complete airband. And cool shades) and the one interview Johnny Depp did for PotC II in Japan, which was funny and also had Orlando Bloom saying his favourite part of the movie was when Johnny got slimed by the Kraken near the end. XD
Late in the afternoon, before I went home, I also helped her finish Atlantica in Kingdom Hearts. She's playing Final Mix and KHII at the same-ish time, so I asked her which one and practically groaned aloud when she said the first one. *g* Atlantica was a BITCH in KHI, and I was reminded exactly how much of one when I died trying to remember not only the controls for KHI but how to swim in the wretched thing. Let's just not even GO there with Ursula. *shudder*
Wednesday was the first uneventful day I'd had for about a week. I should have done uni work. In fact I should have been doing uni work most days, but shh. I did at least clean my computer desk. I had great plans for following this up with uni work, but, uh, that didn't happen.
What did happen was some fic reading, and (rather more interestingly) TRC 128, House 3x02 and later in the evening the final episode of this season of the Chaser's War On Everything, which is an Australian satire that everyone should download HERE. (They don't even mind, the last 7 episodes are up for download on the official site.)
Now, about House and Tsubasa. First, I loved both of them. ♥
More specifically, I almost shrieked at the screen during the bit in Tsubasa (you know the bit I'm talking about). It's especially funny because I have a tendency to do that kind of thing in AUs, and now CLAMP is doing it in their AU. Hee.
As for House, Chase is a freak and I love him, and I kind of really want House/Cuddy at the moment. Not so much fic, I just want the House/Cuddy that happens in the show. Also it's nice to see how Cuddy, Wilson and Cameron are the ones who care about House the most, and the different ways in which they care.
Jumping back to that mention of fic-writing, I have FINALLY finished writing a scene of CCS!X that I've been stalled on for several months now, so me for the win. 3 more scenes and Part II is finished. I feel the need to add that Part II is already 12,000 words long and the last scene could be up to 5000 words long, much like the last scene of Part I was.
As for today, it was very unexciting except for when I left cheese-on-toast in the griller too long and burned it so disgustingly it was inedible and tasted like nothing but char and I had to do it over. I fed half of one of the failed pieces to Ebony, which was way, way more than I should have. *cough*
Back on the topic of writing, though, it's been a whole week, so I'm going to remind you all about Christmas fics again. :D *is very obnoxious* Starting with the current status!

I'm actually at home now, having been working on this entry on and off for about 4 hours, so now I'm going to (theoretically) write the next scene of CCS!X and play me some ToDII.

Chase is such an airhead. ♥

Date: 2006-09-15 03:49 am (UTC)I do like a lot of couples in House, for some reason, though I tend to fluctuate in how much I want them. Right now House/Cuddy is heading my priorities list, though. Because you're right-- she obviously DOES trust him and cares about him, and he obviously cares about her too, in his obnoxious, intrusive House-like way. But she doesn't let him walk all over her, either. I think she could put up with without trying to change him.
Omg, YES. House, Cameron, Foreman and I bet all the viewers just gave him this "Okay, WHAT?" look that was just so funny. XD;;;

PS: Shinsengumi!S&S would be amazing. Also, best of luck with all of these, it's a huge undertaking. ♥

Date: 2006-09-15 02:57 am (UTC)As for CLAMP characters... *think* Hokay, so I know what I have to choose from-- you know X, obviously. What about CCD and Duklyon? And are there any pairings you prefer or dislike?

Date: 2006-09-15 12:05 pm (UTC)Here's the translation of the Horitsuba Private Academy Drama CD. I find it strange that the Mokonae have genders. XD I don't mind if you choose to cross Ouran over with Horitsuba or CLAMP Campus, since either would be fantastic. Though Yuuko as dean of anything is very scary.
In CCD & Duklyon I prefer all the canon pairings except in the case of Suoh and Nokoru. However, don't feel you have to use all those characters!
Have you seen any of the Ouran anime?
no subject
Date: 2006-09-15 12:56 pm (UTC)*click* Ooh, I haven't seen this before. Shiny! Holic and Tsubasa, school cut. I'll have to see which one to go with, either would be fun to write. Maybe both, though that could be too crowded with Ouran as well. *contemplates* So that means you like Suoh/Nokoru, right? And otherwise canon couples?
No, actually. I got into the manga first and didn't really feel the need for the anime, especially since I'd been told it plays down the KyouTama a lot.
