I would just like to say that I find the english voice acting in KHII painful on a NEAR PHYSICAL LEVEL. I don't know if I'd have had such a strong reactionary hatred of it if I wasn't used to the Japanese voice acting, but OH MY GOD, WTF DID THEY DO TO ROXAS AND AXEL AND OLETTE AND SEIFER AND THE REST OF TWILIGHT TOWN JESUS.

*cough* Yes, anyway. I needed some dialogue for a fic and I hit YouTube and ended up with an English clip and I had to just stop and look for the Japanese version because I could take it no longer. Which means the dialogue is a translation-- okay, honestly, MY translation-- of the Japanese, but what they hell, sue me. I like it that way. *contrary*

Today I told my parents that I would like a PSP for a combined birthday/christmas present. Usually I can't think of anything and they keep asking and it's very frustrating for all involved. I don't know why they bother asking usually though, because my mother's response was "No, you've got too many of those things already. I think you should get clothes."

She is unmoved by the fact that I have plenty of clothes which, while old and not all terribly fashionable, are wearable, and that I do not really want clothes, especially not as presents. She does not seem to agree with my logic that it defeats the point of Christmas/birthday presents if you give the recepient something you think they should have rather than what they want to have, which is also something I told her when she gave Rohan a bathrobe for christmas one year. My logical view of the matter is that I know I'm eventually going to cave and get a PSP, and it would be better to recieve it as a present that I will truly appreciate and be very grateful for than to blow money on it and get something else that I can live without for Christmas.

I know, I know, ingratitude strikes again. It's just annoying; I could understand "we won't get you a PSP because it's too expensive", even as a combined present, but this is not so much me being annoyed over the present thing as an ongoing issue I have with my mother wishing I was like her and my sister, ie not a geek, and constantly trying to change me.

In other news Mari and Yuka are off to Japan for two weeks Sunday so they came over today. <333

Meanwhile, I am halfheartedly trying to fix up various notes for International Law. This is kind of funny, because I got to week 7, and-- this is copy-paste, mind you:

Defences

Art 23: If an act is committed under force majeure tumpti tumpti tum.

Art …: Necessity may preclude the wrongfulness of an act if a) GET THIS LATER TOO TIRED

So maybe I wasn't at my best in that lecture. *laughs helplessly* Anyway, I'm trying to persuade myself to do this instead of reading fic for a fandom I don't even know but am rapidly feeling the urge to download the entire freaking show threatening. (CURSE YOU, FLIST, THIS IS YOUR FAULT. YOU AND YOUR STARGATE ATLANTIS.)

Speaking of my notes, the other day in Legal Theory I was playing FFI-- and taking notes at the same time-- and this is apparently quite hypnotic for my Law friends, who find themself staring hypnotised as my little sprites bash things up instead of taking notes. Anyway, at the end of the lecture, Richard (sitting two seats away) demands to know if I took ANY notes at all because every time he looked I was playing games. Tristan, sitting between us, assured him that I'd actually taken fairly copious notes. Richard didn't believe this, so I flicked back to Word and started highlighting the day's notes.

Richard: ... Is that all from TODAY?
Me: Yes. Hang on, there's a little more. Right. *checks word count* Just over 1000 words.
R: O.o;
Me: *smugly* I'm a multitasker.

On a final note, happy birthday for yesterday, Abby, and happy birthday to Xyn for today (in America)!

Xyn, there is birthday fic for you up on [livejournal.com profile] insaneidiot. I hope it turned out okay, I wrote it out of order which is unusual for me. ♥

I can see where you're coming from with voice acting, but I haven't played the Japanese version, so I wouldn't know. I do like Axel's voice acting - he's the same guy who did English Reno in Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children. I believe he's going to be at Supanova this year too~!!

That sucks about your mum rejecting your geekdom :( You should come be my sister and let my mum embrace it. She's been whinging about not seeing all of Totoro lately XDDD

Oh yeah and if you do get a PSP let me know so we can downgrade it and let you run homebrew software :333

Really? Japanese Axel is the same as Japanese Reno! They must really like the snarky redhead correlation. (I only watched Advent Children subbed, also.)

My mum is so not down with my geekdom. D: Your suggestion has merit!

Oooooh, yes. I'll probably cave and get one when I am feeling rich and like I need a particular game now-right-now! Or if I see one on sale, I guess. I will remember that offer, though! :D
