Oct. 29th, 2006 11:44 pmToday I bought 13 discworld books by proxy. My brother rang up and said, "there are lots of discworld books for $12 a pop, you want?" and I said HELL YES and we went through a list of what I did and did not have. Now I am missing only Soul Music, The Amazing Maurice and the new Tiffany book, $160 later. Hur hur hur.
Um, what else. My sister thinks my degree is insanely long, and, well, that makes her pretty much the same as everyone else. My uni friends mock me on a regular basis. I still like uni so it doesn't bother me so much now, but I'm pretty sure I'll snap towards the end and like, go drop out and be a bum on Bondi Beach or something. Or not, I don't really like beaches. But anyway.
Yesterday was Ann's housewarming. I sense the denial is strong within my mother; I had the following conversation with her.
"When's the party?"
"Huh? Midday."
"But why did you sound like you were apologising for being late? It's only eleven."
"Oh, no, that was Mari."
"... Mari is going?"
"Yeah, she's invited."
"... They know her?"
"Uh, yeah? She went to Tristan's birthday party, don't you remember?"
"Not really, no."
I'm pretty sure most other people would be drawing inferences, especially since Mari doesn't even go to the same uni as me, but mum is very good with the wilful blindness. Anyway.
Mm, what else... I've had five hours sleep because I woke up with a hypo and it wasn't worth going back to sleep. Daylight saving is the devil. I translated chapter six of Mirage of Blaze in ONE DAY because I am just that awesome, and have persuaded my mother it counts as studying when it really, really doesn't. I even did some law work, and I am so, so over treaty interpretation. SGA is still love; I have seen up to and including 3x05 (Progeny).
Also, Christmas is so cancelled. I am the reincarnation of Oliver Cromwell and Scrooge combined into one!
Joking.
... Mostly.
On a final note, Mari and I worked out that the best kanji for my name would probably be 志盆.

Anyway, they're ishi (will, volition) no shi and obon (as in the bon festival) no bon.
Shi by itself can mean will, intention, motive and is pronounced kokorozashi.
