Nov. 14th, 2006 11:00 pmAnd again with the tired. *yawn*
Did not see Nightmare Before Christmas 3D, as the tickets were inexplicably twice the price of other tickets, and instead went for a wander around the city. Picked up the Greenday best of cd for $10, Temeraire for $6 (ALRIGHT, FLIST, YOU WIN, ARE YOU HAPPY?), Soul Music for $8 (HAR HAR that's ALL of Discworld except for Amazing Maurice and Wyntersmith. Win!) and my 5 Mirage of Blaze books from Kinokuniya.
Also had 4 or 5 hypos, less on the win side, but ignoring that.
Went to Asakusa for dinner with brother, sister and uncle. Was nice, esp. since uncle came from other side of Sydney just to see me. Banquet so nice, very filling, and very cheap. Mmm quality japanese cuisine. I believe I made up for the calories with the walk back to Rohan's apartment, anyway.
Would just like to say, I'm working on boyband!X right now, and the word count has reached 11500 words, which is about the length of Domine Sancte (longest christmas fic to date previously), only it's still a little less than half done. Kelsey, you evil wench, why do your Christmas fics generate such word mileage? :O
I have one not entirely accurate way to describe it: X meets NANA meets Cruel Intentions meets Viewfinder!
No, that's not supposed to make any sense. Just go with it. *g*
ETA: Almost forgot this, but it was too funny to miss. Was rereading volume 1 of Mirage of Blaze while waiting for the train, and Rohan, impressed that it's all text with almost no pictures, asks me, "So, does it have any gay porn in it?"
Me: ... *carefully does not choke on giggles* No.
Because hey, the first book? Totally doesn't! So then he asks if it has an homoerotic subtext, and I said evasively, "depends what you mean by that. I mean, you can find it anything if you look hard enough." so he demanded to look at the cover and the pictures, and I handed it over, mildly smug-- "There's even a girl on the cover"-- and after flicking through all the pictures of people fighting and only being able to come up with a mild comment about a dubious angle of Takaya holding a sword, reluctantly conceded that he could find no gay subtext and was duly stunned that I was reading something so unlike me.
He can find the gay in almost anything I watch or read as well as I can, which is almost disturbing in it's own way, but I hand him mirage of blaze in Japanese and he's stumped.
THE IRONY KILLS. XD

Date: 2006-11-14 11:39 pm (UTC)Actually I have started one, I'm up to the last chapter of book one. But I do need to go back and fix the first few chapters because I did them ages ago and I know now that they're very inaccurate in parts. XD In the meantime, though, someone has actually gotten up to about halfway through book 2, and her translations from what I read are accurate and well-annotated:
