HOORAY, CHAPTER 7 DONE.

tammaiyaAs it turned out I had to cut chapter 7 ITSELF into two parts and I am disgusted by LJ's character limits, but ce la vie! At least it is done, after much struggling with Seishirou and Subaru being obnoxious to write. Phew.
On an entirely different note, Japanese has finally scheduled classes! I have two days off, Wednesday and Friday; Tuesday only has two Japanese classes with an annoying two hour gap between them and Thursday is relatively heavy (four straight hours), but it's really not a timetable I can complain about. Advantage to only doing three subjects! Although I have two 2-hour law lectures on Monday that I'll be missing due to being in gainful employment on that day, which isn't exactly a stellar way to start off the semester, but... oh well. <<
More perusal of my KHII Ultimania (plus some comparison with the final mix+ ultimania procured at an earlier date) leads to substantiation that it is indeed filled with awesome. I have learned that Sora's keyblade actually originally belonged to Riku. Also, Axel's character file in the final mix ultimania is GAY GAY GAY.
Heretic child of the Organisation
Axel is Roxas's best friend, and his actions are deeply linked to Roxas's existance.
From the moment Roxas entered the Organisation, Axel looked after him. With that as the catalyst, the two became intimate, and began to feel a friendship that shouldn't have been possible for heartless nobodies.
The thing driving such peculiar actions as giving advice Namine and Sora in the Castle Oblivion and failing to go along with Marluxia's plans or the Organisation's expectations is "Roxas's body/self/substance", giving him a deep interest in Sora.
Further, due to the fact that at the end of it all the members of the Organisation who knew what happened in the Castle Oblivion except for Axel disappeared, the fact that Axel took actions that were definitely not in the interests of the Organisation has not been told to the members outside the Castle.
Conflict surrounding his best friend
At the beginning of the story of KHII, Axel was ordered by the Organisation to recover Roxas. However, once it becomes clear that Roxas has no memory of the Organisation and no intention of returning to it, his orders change to "extinguish Roxas". Axel protests, but threatened that if he doesn't obey instructions Dusks will do it, he has no choice but to attack Roxas.
He betrays the Organisation, and then...
After Roxas is subsumed by Sora, Axel, thinking "if Sora is turned into a heartless I can see Roxas", goes renegade. Due to that, he is put in the position of being hunted down as a traitor by the Organisation, which wants to make Sora exterminate heartless.
Axel abducts Kairi, who was supposed to be used to lure Sora, but on the way Kairi is snatched away by Saix. Perhaps trying to compensate for that failure, Axel then acts on Sora's behalf. He tells Sora, "you're being used by the Organisation", and in the end sacrifices himself to open the way for Sora. As a result of his individualistic existence amongst the Organisation (whose movements were in order to gain hearts), perhaps he was the one able to get closer to a heart than any other member.
In other news, my siblings are both home for the weekend, it's cold, and I'm going to see Spiderman 3 at film group tomorrow night with Victoria.
On the mirage of blaze front: still reading book 7, still no sign of book 8. Hm.
... Also, the keyboard tray of my computer desk has come unscrewed and I'm propping it up with a stack of books. It's not very confidence-inspiring. XD;

Date: 2007-07-13 05:13 pm (UTC)So it is implied that the friendship between Roxas and Axel was mutual? Sometimes I can't help but feel like it was one-sided on Axel's part. But maybe we only get to see the point at which Roxas becomes fed up with the Organisation. Sorry if that sounds totally obvious and silly. I don't get around KH fandom very much. :(

I've always had a soft spot for them, but never really pursued doing anything for them because Roxas came off as totally indifferent, even to Axel. It's nice to know that there is space between the cutscenes to work with. Maybe I'll eventually do something, after all... xD
