As per usual, will hopefully get to comments soonish (at least on this journal; they're waist-deep on
insaneidiot, because I clearly named myself aptly there). It has been a weekend of total ugh-ness. Expensive ugh-ness, for that matter. Basically what happened was, the iPod arrived on Friday. On Friday evening, I was uploading cds to the iPod when iTunes crashed. And so did the iPod. And so, for that matter, did my USB ports.
So. The iPod was give to the Apple Store to fix or replace, hopefully by this Friday and thankfully under warranty. (Or so they said, and it better be, because I can't afford to have totally wasted that $239.) They would have just replaced it on the spot, but they no longer stock that model. The inevitable downside of buying a refurb, one supposes.
The computer was given to the computer store, who, $88 and two days later, gave it back with fixed USB ports. I'm very glad my computer works and that I didn't have to shell out for a new motherboard, but on the other hand, it would've been nice for it to not break down and cost me almost $100 in the FIRST place.
Then to top things off my copy of ToD Remake keeps crashing whenever I walk into particular rooms in the dungeon I'm up to. You can only save if there's a save point; it took several attempts at walking through half the dungeon over and over again, trying different routes, for me to conclude that this isn't going to work. I don't know whether it's the iso or how it burned, but I deleted it and I'm not redownloading 3.4gb on a mere possibility, so I forked out another $100 to order it (and Tales of Fandom 2, since it was on sale for $20; the 100 includes that and postage) over the web. This is particularly frustrating because I have every intention of buying the Director's Cut of the game when it comes out early next year. Argh.
So all in all, the last week has been over $400 worth of expensive and immeasurable in terms of frustration. *headdesk* If I don't want to take any money out of my savings account, which I'm going to need when I go to Japan at the end of March-- because even if I do get a good scholarship, I'm going to go travelling on my own expense at least twice, probably thrice, plus the inevitable temptation of shopping in Japan, plus the cost of living, and I don't want to leave that up to just a scholarship, even with tutoring jobs on the side-- I can't spend any money at all for a few months. Sigh.
Also, I still haven't started studying for exams. I had my laptop over the weekend, but I don't like it very much so I don't use it if I don't need to. Plus I object to doing anything without my lecture notes printed off. So theoretically I COULD have, but reality is, I didn't. Blah.
I should go prepare for my comcon tute. bwaargh.
