Apr. 14th, 2008 03:39 pmSmall post time. In the end, I did go out to Akihabara yesterday because my laptop died AGAIN, while I was talking to my parents, and they were like GO. GO NOW. so I did. And I'll give more detail on that later, but for now: I have a laptop. It is second hand, and yet still kicks the crap out of anything I would have bought in Australia, probably. It has a 17" screen, 160gb harddrive, 1gb ram, and a 1.6ghz processor. The one thing about it that pisses me off is, well, its japanese-ness, which was unavoidable all things considered. I've managed to switch the keyboard back to QWERTY so I no longer have to hit shift+7 to get an apostrophe (although it means the keys don't do what they say anymore, so it's good that I use computers so much I know where all the keys are), but I still haven't figured out a way to type Japanese without it going all Japanese keyboard on me. Considering I have no idea even remotely where the keys are on a Japanese keyboard (I spent about five minutes trying to find the SO key-- it's c), let alone touch-typing, it's very irritating.
On a random sidenote, I miss fic writing but I can't really see where I'm going to find the time/inspiration in the near future. Sigh.
