tammaiyaYes, I know I haven't said anything about mirage here since about book 25-- I haven't even sent any spammy emails since the beginning of book 33, which is largely because I had to skimread the last 4 books in under 2 days in a desperate bid to find an end to the suffering, which was mostly due to Oda being the badtouch raeptiem master but is also partially Naoe's fault for being a DUMBASS and affording Oda even more opportunity to cause trauma. ANYWAY.

Kattaiya (9:11:09 AM): basically Takaya, Ushio and Tetsuya are doing the rite and it really looks like it's going to be a success-- that's at the end of a chapter
Kattaiya (9:12:12 AM): then next chapter Reijirou and Date Masamune are like, discussing battle strategies or whatever and then eventually Ushio and Takaya come in and Reijirou is like "WELL? HOW'D IT GO? DID IT WORK?" and Takaya just smiles and Reijirou is like "ZOMG IT WORKED"
Kattaiya (9:12:28 AM): and I think then there's another scene, and then Takaya goes to Naoe, and also just smiles at Naoe

Kattaiya (9:12:54 AM): and then like, a scene or two later Ushio goes and tells Reijirou that it failed like whoa and Takaya just DOESN'T WANT TO WORRY THEM

Kattaiya (9:17:32 AM): it's only halfway through book 38, too. Now I know I'm going to have to wait until at LEAST a book and a half for this to be resolved, probably. *headdesk*

Kattaiya (9:20:12 AM): Well on the bright side Takaya's finally got his 400 year long minions back... although Ayako lost her body and she and Naoe both have demon seeds, and I don't even actually really like Irobe Katsunaga, but whatever.
Kattaiya (9:21:19 AM): but I think 80% of the important characters from the Red Whales got obliterated one way or another either by being exorcised by Ayako/Naoe or by having their soul destroyed by Oda in the last fight.

Kattaiya (9:24:58 AM): Only temporarily dead-- Naoe managed to get his three braincells together and NOT make the same mistake twice (but it took him a while to reach the conclusion that, duh, Naoe, swearing actual proper loyalty to Oda so you find out how to destroy your soul when Kagetora dies is no better than doing it for the futsu-no-mitama, and is in fact EVEN WORSE) and comes back to challenge Oda, who has once more absconded with Takaya (he had a short book of freedom), in a fight for the sword. Then Takaya wakes up and helps, and Reijirou, Ushio and Kaoru show up, and Kaoru shoots Oda, except Naoe passes out before he can exorcise him.

Kattaiya (9:25:25 AM): So Oda lost his body, but his soul escaped and obviously will just find a new body to kanshou into sooner rather than later.
Kattaiya (9:26:40 AM): Naoe is essentially under consential house arrest because Oda could take him over again without warning.

Kattaiya (9:28:15 AM): well, not YET, but Naoe was pretty injured. They have had lots of sappy romantic scenes, though.
Which I would be EVEN HAPPIER about if one of them didn't involve me and Naoe being faked out about the soul death thing! ><

Kattaiya (9:32:04 AM): Wah. I don't know if Takaya actually lets Naoe think for more than a little that it's okay, because when the scene changed he was still in the room lying in Naoe's arms, and flicking ahead slightly I think he might tell him in technically the same scene.
