Kyoto is cold and snowy with occasional rain/sleet (today was very sleety). It has been brought to my attention that I am a total pussy for calling this cold, but nevertheless. Also I made the mistake of including the fact I am currently beanie-less in my last email to family and co, and received back a naggy email from my mother typed by my aunt along the lines of "GO BUY A BEANIE NOW BEFORE YOU GET MIDDLE-EAR OR INFECTED CHILLBLAINS AND DIE DDD:"
... Notwithstanding the fact, as my brother pointed out, she very likely does not remember we're heading for the Japanese Alps the day after tomorrow. The nagging would have been far more hysterical if she had. (Eg, YOU ARE NOT LEAVING KYOTO UNTIL YOU BUY A BEANIE!!!!!!!!!!!!! etc)
Over-ate at an all you can eat/drink place tonight but it was delicious. Leareth and I FINALLY got that writing night we've been talking about for months, although somewhat abbreviated and technology impaired... and in Kyoto... and it was not ENTIRELY unproductive. Tomorrow we are going to pay a mildly exhorbitant amount of money to be dressed up as Maiko (apprentice Geisha) for two hours and have photos taken before we head off to chill at a ryokan. Where there probably will be more writing night, because we are literally going there to chill and do nothing for an evening, so!
PS we went temple hopping today and both heartily approve of Sanjyuusan-dou which had 1000 Kannon statues and 28 guardian statues. I'm sure you can imagine we spent our time going "HAHA ASHURA. HAHA KUJYAKU. HAHA TAISHAKUTEN. HAHA BISHAMONTEN. ... aw, there's no Yasha, he's unloved... D:" (We actually had to go back for Kujyaku because Leareth missed him. You can tell where our priorities lie. Obvs the four heavenly generals were there, though, Bishamonten being one of them, although my sniggering priorities so far as that is concerned clearly lie higher with Mirage of Blaze than RG Veda on that one.)
