Right now everything is a whole lot of lasts. Last time seeing this person, last time teaching that lesson, last time shopping in this place, last time eating at that place... etc. It's all a bit depressing, really. This time next week I will be on a plane back to Australia, and I don't really feel as positive about that as I could.

Anyway, one of the things I am REALLY not feeling terribly positive about is packing. Today I cleaned my room out and sorted it into trash (now gone), stuff to be given away (clothes in a big bag under the bed, stuff on top two shelves, stuff in kitchenette including all food I don't eat between now and then) and stuff to pack (... depressingly abundant). The worst part about this whole ordeal was probably cleaning under the bed, because this place manufactures dust bunnies like you would not BELIEVE-- it isn't just me, everyone in the dorm agrees-- and the worst of them hide there. Nevertheless; it is done. Although the packing isn't. I'm trying to find a way of getting an extra bag back to Australia without completely bankrupting me and it is both difficult and a pain in the arse. I WAS going to go with unaccompanied baggage, but as well as having to get it all to the airport it's pretty damn expensive. At the moment I am contemplating kuroneko takyuubin versus Japan Post economy airmail. The latter is cheaper, but more effort, because I'd have to find a packing box and get it... somewhere. The post office, I assume. Whereas kuroneko will come pick it up and shrinkwrap so I could just pack it all in the hiking pack and leave it be.

In other news, my final week is fairly busy; I'm going out to Shibuya tomorrow to hang out with Akane one last time before I leave. Tuesday I'm taking another teacher's lessons at the Lingua House in the evening and will probably go turn in my health insurance during the day. Wednesday and/or Thursday I may go to Hakone with Kaori-- we were going to go in November but couldn't, so this is the last chance. Similarly, may go karaoking with [livejournal.com profile] ontogenesis and [livejournal.com profile] aiwritingfic as a last hurrah on the wednesday if I have time. Friday will be super fun times-- cancelling phone contract, closing bank account, ditching needles, work in the evening at the Lingua House-- and Saturday I will be working literally all day, final classes at the Lingua House in the morning and final time at the Wadas in the evening. It's all a bit of a rush, but still, I'm glad my last week here is going to be busy. May as well go out with a bang, right?

Meanwhile I want to punch ANU in the face, because for a timetable where I have a 4 day weekend, it manages to be SPECTACULARLY shitty. The three clashes I had before have at least reduced to 2, but on the days I have class I always finish at 5, on Tuesday I have class for 5 hours straight with no time for lunch, and on Wednesday and Thursday I have enormous gaps in the middle of the day. OBJECTION. >:|

Other things that suck include the fact classes start tomorrow and I'll have to catch it up, and the fact that my paid account has run out. Also, when I tried to upload photos from my trip in August/September with my parents, Firefox crashed. TWICE. Not trying again until back in Australia! (It WAS fun to look at the photos, though; I'd only seen them on a tiny camera screen. It's a bit unfortunate that that was the peak of when I needed to lose weight. And, possibly more to the point, needed a new bra. Sadly, while I lost weight in between, I once more need to do so. And I STILL need a new bra. So photos from the recent Japan trip suffer a similar problem. XD; Oh well.)

In other, brighter news, I've been working on and off on the next chapter of Boyband!X. It's a very climatic chapter; there are some scenes in it I've been looking forward to writing since April last year. Very specific, I know. There's a reason but I cannot mention it for fear of spoilers. Still, have an excerpt from my handwritten notes I made in Kyoto that cracked me up, with spoilers excised:

"... b/c Fuuma is smarter than that ... (UNLIKE SEISHIROU, WHO IS A MORON.)"

Caps copied as is. I apparently felt this needed emphasising. Gee, I can't imagine why. XD

Also, I've been playing Tales of Hearts. I am 80 hours in, which is almost double what I have spent on any other DS game. It's kind of brilliant; I really love it. I'm vaguely intending on a gameblog at some point, although with me it remains to be seen whether it will actually happen. Still, I totally love it. I love all the characters, I love (most of) the canon pairings, and I love the way it has little subevents that aren't a big deal or anything but actually deal with issues like gender identity in a positive way. (I.e., they go into the spirit maze of a really masculine looking guy and the person at the heart of the maze is a really feminine girl who is worried that if people know what she's like on the inside they'll shun her. But the main characters tell her it's alright, she should be who she is, and that gives her confidence to act like herself. I really liked that; it was such a small moment, but it's rare to see that kind of issue in mainstream games, especially dealt with so positively.)

asdfjklsdjfklds I need to stop updating LJ and go sleep. Or play ToH. ... *shifty* Who'm I kidding, it's totally the latter.

Okay so I don't know [livejournal.com profile] aiwritingfic personally, but I know people who know her from college. And I'm given to understand she was a founder of the club that took up most of my time.
Why does EVERYTHING come back to the Valley, even when it's in JAPAN? XD
