Going back to Australia
Mar. 1st, 2009 12:59 pmIn seven hours, I'll be on the plane back to Australia. It's the last time in the near and foreseeable future that I'll be making that trip, so it's a really weird feeling. I'm very melancholy about all the farewells, but strangely (considering the fact I'm a crybaby and I bawl whenever I graduate from highschool or whatever) I haven't really cried, even when people start giving me farewell gifts and saying such nice things to me.
This week has been simultaneously really special and really depressing. There's been all the running around, all the stressing about packing and money and things I have to get done before I go, all the misery about not wanting to leave and the stress and wanting to punch ANU in the face over my class scheduling (this is an unresolved issue and I kind of am resenting the hell out of my classmates in Advanced Readings in Japanese Law right now for totally ignoring my request that we at least CONSIDER options other than Monday night, given how impossible on many levels that is for me; it's not the lecturer's fault, in fact he stated he'd prefer not to have class on monday either, but if nothing can be done about I'm am going to have to do something drastic, possibly involving dropping to three courses which would SUCK because I will NEVER GRADUATE--) ... er. sorry. got distracted. what was I saying? Oh yeah, all the final farewells have been really depressing but at the same time I've really appreciated them in a bittersweet way. I saw Akane-chan on monday-- we got lost in Shibuya, although when I say Shibuya I mean we accidentally walked right out of Shibuya and ended up having to catch the train from East Kitazawa which is 3.6 km away, and then we did karaoke in Shinjuku because it was cold and raining and horrible outside. Saturday morning was my last time at the Lingua House; Nishiguchi-san gave me the most wonderful reference ever, Mochizuki-sensei told me to contact her if I ever wanted to do postgrad at the university because she'd recommend me, Tamaki-chan gave me a gorgeous thank you card, and Noro-san gave me a Japanese-style apron made of really nice fabric. Then last night was the last time at the Wada's-- after tutoring Saki for a while and then playing games with both girls, we went out for dinner at a sushi place where I ate FAR too much (but it was so deliiiicious) and then they gave me farewell gifts which are super cute and so Japanese-- cat pillow that smells of sakura, pig chopsticks, and a pouch for important things in your handbag with black poodles all over. <3 Of course, in between all this I've been running into various uni friends and saying goodbye to them, too... sigh.
I've got contact details for most people, and I'll definitely come back to Japan so I hope I'll see them again-- and some of them might come visit me in Australia, Saki and Mayuka may come to stay with me Australia summer next year. But it's still sad to feel how it's all over. I think overall I've been happier this year than I have at any other time, not that there weren't problems. Anyway, I've got to finish hauling my crap to the communal recycling area in the second dorm and format this laptop so I can ditch it. Later, dudes!

Date: 2009-03-02 10:08 am (UTC)Btw, you wouldn't happen to know how to get an AC adaptor for a Japanese Xbox 360, would you? :/ Not paying attention to the different voltages, I shorted mine, and I now need to either find a way of getting one of the 3rd party ones that covers all voltages (which don't seem to be sold anywhere I can order them from) or get the converter box from play-asia plus a new normal AC adaptor (WHICH IS BEING JUST AS PERVERSE).

Erm, wow @ your Xbox 360 dilemma. I'll ask a mate of mine when I see him on Wednesday. IMHO, probably the best thing to do is to buy a new power adapter from Microsoft directly. I'm confident that it would work with your Japanese one. I'll double check with my friend when I see him on wednesday.
BTW, お帰り~!
