So far, being back in Australia sucks a lot. Can't charge my DS or PSP (last night I blew a fuse when the converter plug got knocked out slightly; the converter plug is fried, and the DS charger melted slightly. need to go buy Australian ones. sigh.) or use my Xbox 360 (AC adapter fried because it has a much lower input voltage than Australian power supply, so now I need to find a new one that I can use both with a Japanese Xbox and an Australian voltage and pray like hell that the Xbox itself is okay. which I think it IS, but can't be sure).

Also my internet is very frustratingly firewalled. I don't know what's wrong with it, considering it didn't have this problem back when I left in April (although it did have it when I returned at Christmas and I couldn't fix it then), but the upshot of it is that my torrent downloads are crawling along at the impressive speed of LESS THAN 10KB/S. I am suspicious that there's some kind of program interfering, since the ports are supposedly open on both Windows firewall and the router. Subsequently I am considering reformatting the computer, an idea that fills me with dread. It NEVER ENDS WELL; it always takes hours, is insanely frustrating, and then in the end you realise there's some driver or program you want or need that you didn't think of and didn't back up and don't have a CD for. Plus, not being in possession of an external HD or anything of that nature, the idea of trying to back up my two HDs is very daunting indeed.

Then there's being back at uni and having to catch up with everything and deal with all the scheduling problems I'm having, sort out what to do about work now I have an unanticipated class during the shift I was meant to be working. And I'm tired; the thought of trying to do my reading or deal with any of this makes my brain shy away in horror, and I don't even have video games or all the TV I've been waiting to catch up on to look forward to.

DEAR UNIVERSE: NOT IMPRESSED. Stupid Australia, I hate everything. *kicks rocks*

I don't think it's your _computer_'s fault, I do think it's firewalled/blocked at the ISP level.

Hm, you think? I guess that's possible, actually, I think my ISP might be facing legal action from the movie industry or something along those lines... ajfsdklfjld gaaaagh I hadn't even thought of that. GREAT, THERE IS NO WAY I CAN FIX THAT. *headdesk*

Although, I still think there must be some kind of problem somewhere along the lines because the program that monitors my connection (which is official and specific to the ISP) can no longer perform a speed check...

Invinsible? Invincible or Invisible?

Well, I'm just saying this so you don't format your computer for nothing. ^_^

Yeah, thanks. I don't know if I'd actually go to such drastic measures, because I REALLY hate doing it (I've had to do it a number of times in the past) but... hm, yes.

... is this about my user tag thing? *g* It's an FFVI in-joke. There's this one boss that shows up with two bears, and if you attack him while the bears are still there, he CANNOT BE KILLED. There was this parody site that made a joke about how he was invincible in the presence of bears, and I always found it kind of hilarious.

But, uh. As for the spelling. Japanese has killed my English ability? .___. (MAYBE IT IS BOTH. IN AN UNHOLY CROSS.)

If you don't already have conficker, it could be your firewall protecting you from incidences of the big news Windows worm. I'd reccomend against lowering your firewall, and just waiting for things to dl slowly, because they haven't as yet got a fix, and have no idea what the second phase of the worm is going to do to all the infected computers.

Are there any particular shows you wanted? I or someone I know might have em, if it's causing you heartache.

Well, I've tried opening the ports Azureus is using on both the router and Windows Firewall and there shouldn't BE anything else. But [livejournal.com profile] beckerbell is finding me direct download links-- it's a pain dealing with the download limit for MU and the split files with MF, but with a download manager I can keep them going about 300kb/s which makes up for a lot.

Have you enabled port-forwarding on your router for your P2P client to your particular port on your particular PC? That's the main problem for it.

Yeah. ~___~ And it worked before I went to Japan, too. I think it must be either some changed setting/new software or an issue with iinet. But I've dealt with it by swapping over to direct download. It has a different set of issues but it does mean not having to worry about seeds or firewalls and it's often faster than all but the really high-speed torrents.
