tammaiyaOh my god, I am such a FAILURE AT EXISTENCE. I lost my mobile phone about a week or so ago; do you know where and when I finally found it?
In the pocket of a hoodie... which I had JUST TAKEN OUT OF THE WASHING MACHINE. From now on I will never forget that very important step of checking pockets before I wash things. T_____T
The sim card is fine, I checked it in my mum's mobile, but I'm pretty sure the phone itself is fried. Uuuuurgh.
In other news:
*I can't work up the enthusiasm to do any uni work. I think starting a week and a half in with no real break off the back of my Japanese semester has screwed me up a bit; I hate the sense of playing catch-up before I've even started. I have a Japanese presentation on a journal article in a Japanese education serial next Wednesday, and I'm dragging my feet on writing it. Sigh. At least I did my assignment translating provisions of a Japanese statute.
* I am secretly twelve. Studying "non-consensual transfers of land" makes me snigger.
* My ipod is dead for good, RIP. It won't even turn on anymore. Some of the music on it was only on my Japanese laptop, too, which is still in transit. T___T
* My Xbox 360 scratched up my Tales of Vesperia disc. I was a bit careless in moving it with the disc inside but I'm sure I've done it once or twice with a PS or PS2 before without that problem. Google reveals Xbox 360 is infamous for it. Anyway, I've hooked it up to the family room TV where it's nice and steady (and the picture is bigger, which I discovered was a necessity, even if it's still kind of fuzzy and I can't read text very well) and ordered another copy of ToV because I have the willpower of... of something with no willpower when it comes to Tales games. Meanwhile I'm playing Last Remnant. Is good. V. gay and pretty. Am also playing Dragon Quest V on DS, which is pretty fun, but I almost killed something out of frustration today when my game froze and I'd done heaps of stuff since my last save.
* Speaking of things that are pretty and gay, I now have all of the Fire Emblem manga. It's surprisingly good, actually much better than the game (since it was originally NES-generation and thus doesn't have much in the way of plot and characterisation). I crave Abel/Cain like burning. It is semi-canon, I swear to god.
* Does anyone have any ideas for an original short story of about 5000 words? All my ideas are too long or too short. *ponders*
* On a The Academy Is... kick. WAS on a The Cab kick, but it's one of the things that are only on the ipod/laptop so I don't have any at the moment.
* I wish I didn't fail so much at correspondence. I have a large number of people I need to email/message on facebook at the moment but I have this mental block about that kind of thing, I always need to work myself up to it. Bleeeergh.
* What else... dinner at a restaurant tomorrow with my adviser from Year In Japan and a professor from my Japanese uni. Should be interesting.
* Also, I seem to have landed a job teaching English by correspondence to a guy in Korea. Not sure yet how this will work out, but it'll be different, anyway.
This post is very fragmentary and all over the place. ^^; I think now is probably a good place to cut it off, since I'm just meandering now.
