tammaiyaHaving resigned myself to a life without torrents, I decided to give utorrent a punt, just in case my problem was Azureus AKA Vuze-- which had always worked fine for me in the past, since I've been in Japan suddenly started firewalling everything.
As it so happens, that WAS the problem. I WILL KILL IT WITH MY BRAIN dskjlfjsdklfjsdklfdslj. (And it's not like this is the first time I've considered it, but I did try my download manager which can do torrents with no greater success and was previously too lazy to try and find out what was considered a good torrent programme if it was all going to be in vain. *headdesk*) So now my torrent problem is finally solved. Hooray!
I used this power to watch The Princess Diaries. Just... just don't ask. Except believe me that it is essentially the fault of Merlin fandom and that I shamelessly enjoyed it.
Also, speaking of, all the ads for Merlin on Australian tv lately have got me back into the fandom. Consequently, some recs for fanvids, fics, etc.
* Merlinella, fairly long and rather interesting Cinderalla AU
* Camelot's Sweethearts, very long and very good, another reel_merlin AU. Have never seen the movie, but the fic works really well.
* Do not know where this comes from, sorry, but it's really funny-- gif of Merlin's "To-Do List": http://i596.photobucket.com/albums/tt48/armer_gayms/Challenge%201/41.gif
* Look at my 'girlfriend', absolutely hilarious Merlin fanvid and I crack up EVERY TIME. I love Arthur's faces.
* Just dance with the memories, modern rebirth AU in fanvid form, really impressive editing. (Actually, solanyxe has a lot of good Merlin fanvids, those two were just my favourites.)
I have the feeling there were other fics but those are the ones I read most recently that stand out in memory. It's after 4am, so you'll excuse me if said memory is pretty patchy. XD; Also, my general feeling on the state of Merlin AUs is there are a lot of awesomely great concepts and etc but a lot of them seem to make Arthur too nice so he fits in the role of the romantic lead. This applies particularly to AUs based on movies, I suppose.
On a semi-related note, I've never had much interest in Gym Class Heroes because I was under the impression that they were very urban and possibly rap which is a genre of music I am generally not that thrilled with, but thanks to that Merlin fanvid I have the girlfriend song stuck in my head. I may have to investigate this.
