Oct. 23rd, 2009 09:51 pmRoxas and Axel just keep on getting gayer.
I am completely terrified by the amount of uni work I have to do over the next three weeks, which is largely brought upon myself by procrastinating throughout the semester.
I have to give this oral in my Japanese history class next week. In Japanese, obviously. Just as obviously, I am giving it on the civil war period because I'm that predictable. But the thing is, I keep getting distracted by people who were in mirage of blaze. "OH HEY. IT'S KENSHIN. HE HAS A FUNNY HEADSCARF THAT MAKES HIM LOOK LIKE A TEMPLAR, LOL."
Also, I already knew this from said mirage of blaze, but Japanese history is fucking MADE OF CRAZY, OKAY. I am still only reading about the decline of the Muromachi bakufu and there's already a confusing amount of succession battles and people stabbing each other in the back and assassinating other people and power struggles and what have you, most of them within the shogun Ashikaga family. The bit that really leaves me scratching my head is the last major revolt before it all decended into the sengoku jidai free-for-all. Basically, the 8th Ashikaga Shogun Yoshimasa didn't really want to run a country; his wife and advisors (peacekeepers? they're kind of like the police force) had all the power. He didn't have any kids, so he decided to abdicate and persuaded his younger brother Yoshimi to take over. Except then his wife Tomiko gave birth to a son, Yoshihisa. Of course this ended in a war between Tomiko and Yamana(one of the powerful peacekeepers) on one side- the western army - and Yoshimi and Hosokawa (another powerful peacekeeper) on the other side - the eastern army.
Which, okay, so far so par for the course.
However, a year after the fighting starts... the armies swap sides. The east army allies itself to Tomiko, the west army allies itself to Yoshimi.
And I'm left going... what the FUCK? How does that make sense?! You can't just swap sides! it doesn't work like that! what!

meanwhile the neighbours are having a loud party and I want to punch someone in the head. NOT WHILE I'M STUDYING AUGH.
ETA: Oh yeah, on Wednesday I cleaned my room. For five hours. It was epic. It was MIRACULOUS. All the contents of my wardrobe are now, in fact, inside my wardrobe. Neatly. Folded in piles according to type of clothing, or hanging on hangers divided by season and then colour. But more impressive than this, far more impressive, is that I managed to achieve the restructuring of my shelves that has been a dire necessity ever since I got back from Japan. I had about 50 books sitting on the desk in piles for months because there was NOWHERE TO PUT THEM but now through the magic of moving things around, all my books have homes. All my souvenirs from Japan are either on display or safely in a box. I CAN USE THE DESK TO STUDY.
It is like a miracle.
And I'm totally going to take a photo just so I can show you all! But not until I clean the dressing table and stuff, so that means at least another week. My room totally looks like it belongs to me now, though. Looking at it would give anyone the impression that I like things about Japan, from Japan, and in Japanese... plus fantasy novels, soft toys, and the colours blue and purple. ^^; Looking closer/an ability to read Japanese would also reveal a lot of manga, video game guides/magazines/etc, and things like Mirage of Blaze and doujinshi. And mirage of blaze doujinshi. Which speak for themselves. In short, my room is ME. The only thing missing is the Discworld obsession, and that's only because I have an entire shelf devoted to my Terry Pratchett books next to the computer desk in the rumpus room. XD;
