Date: 2010-02-07 11:39 am (UTC)A) My OTP: Luffy/Nami, ALL THE WAY. I get >:< faced when there hasn't been enough Luffy/Nami in canon for a while and it makes my fangirl heart gleeful whenever they're interacting.
B) The runner up: Hmm. *thoughtful* Everything is kind of subject to a disclaimer of only if it was really kind of about Luffy? Which is I think why I don't mind the idea of Zoro/Nami. They're NEVER going to really fall in love, but their bitching at each other is hilarious and it would be all kinds of hot.
C) The anti-ship: SANJI/NAMI. I just cannot STAND this. It is just so shallow and like the epitome of Sanji's annoying flirting habit for me. Every time there is Sanji -> Nami in canon I twitch in irritation.
D) My unpopular fannish opinion on said character: I don't really know what the fandom opinions are... oh, I don't think Nami's a lesbian or heavily geared towards girls or anything like that, that seems to pop up a lot in fic. I also don't think she's that perverted or has much experience, she's pretty young and she's been too busy trying to liberate her village for that kind of thing. Not to mention Noriko says she never really smiled, so I doubt she was anywhere having much fun before Luffy came along.
E) One person he/she never fell in love with, and why: ANYONE BUT LUFFY. Uhh, more seriously, Sanji. She loves him like she loves all her nakama, but I don't think she'd ever fall IN love with him because for all his fawning he never really does anything to sit up and take notice. He flirts with other girls, he's not particularly considerate of her where other women are involved - he'll just never stand out from the crowd like Luffy does for her.
Zoro
A) My OTP: Zoro/Sanji. XD God, I'm predictable. They kind of had that spark right from the beginning when Zoro first fought Mihawk and then their teamwork in Arlong Park was amazing, plus they have the snarky bitchy vibe that I love. Then I realised how much this ship was going to make me suffer with lack of interaction in the chapters that followed, but it was TOO LATE ALREADY. The end of Thriller Bark was seriously rewarding, though.
B) The runner up: I'm... not sure. I am cautiously onboard with Zoro/Kuina and intrigued by Zoro/Tashigi, but I'd probably hate it if it happened. XD Zoro/Nami is hot. Actually, Zoro/Robin would also be pretty hot. Zoro has chemistry with inanimate objects. But I've moved past the point where I'd consider Zoro/Luffy, I think. They've strayed firmly into best friend/brother territory.
C) The anti-ship: Zoro/Chopper. WHY YOU GOTTA BE LIKE THAT, FANDOM.
D) My unpopular fannish opinion on said character: IN SOVIET RUSSIA, ZORO TOP *YOU*. Also, I don't think he is exactly gay. certainly I don't think he's a gay horndog. I think he has very selective sexuality and is attracted very specifically to people, rather than gender, and that it probably takes quite a lot to catch his interest.
E) One person he/she never fell in love with, and why: Tashigi. No matter how much she looks and sounds like Kuina, she'll never be Zoro's best friend, and the reminder is too painful for him to love her in her own right (even if she weren't trying to arrest him all the time).

B) The runner up: I haven't really contemplated other ships much. I don't want to be killed by Tendou. But maybe Kagami/Renge? It'd be kind of hilarious. Mostly to watch Tendou grind his teeth and Kagami being confused and a little terrified.
C) The anti-ship: It really is so hard to come up with other ships to disapprove of them.
D) My unpopular fannish opinion on said character: uhhh... I'm not sure I have one? Is there enough fandom for unpopular opinions?
E) One person he/she never fell in love with, and why: Tsurugi. Not that he didn't like the guy, but MADE OF CRAZY. Also, unlike Misaki, there are certain things he just wouldn't be able to get past.
Umeda
A) My OTP: Akiha/Umeda, it'd be pretty hard to miss with the fic and everything.
B) The runner up: Uhhhhh. IS there another ship? Other than that of which we do not speak? Maybe a crossover ship.
C) The anti-ship: Kijima/Umeda, we've discussed it before but Kijima is basically just too... manipulative? Cold? IDK, he's a crap friend.
D) My unpopular fannish opinion on said character: Noooo idea. I think in general most of my ideas of Umeda meld pretty well with the consensus.
E) One person he/she never fell in love with, and why: Anyone but Kijima and Akiha, I guess? He was so hung up on Kijima for years that there was no room for anyone else. Akiha really had to work to take that place in Umeda's heart.

B) The runner up: Um. Well, I USED to ship Cloud/Tifa, but then I remembered about the fucked up memory thing and that kind of killed it for me... I never shipped Cloud/Aeris... Cloud/Zack only works for me when Sephiroth is involved... Cloud/Yuffie might be interesting?
C) The anti-ship: Changing canons for a moment, Leon/Cloud. Oh, and changing it again, Cloud/Terra. In actual canon, I'm too distracted by Sephiroth/Cloud to be bothered by the others. *g*
D) My unpopular fannish opinion on said character: God, it's been years since my last foray into FFVII fandom. Maybe that being drawn to Aeris and vice-versa is because of Zack's memories, not really about them.
E) One person he/she never fell in love with, and why: Aeris. He cared about her a lot and he was torn by her death, but his feelings for her are too mixed up in the whole mindfuck that happened to him. He'd never be able to sort through all the guilt and other mess or be able to figure out what was him and what was "Zack" to make it work.
Momohime
A) My OTP: Jinkurou/Momohime. Despite that it is kind of messed up and he's sort of old and very much on the dark grey end of the moral spectrum, I really felt that connection and it got to me.
B) The runner up: Kisuke/Momohime. It's a runner up pairing for both of them, but in the event that both Jinkurou and Torahime were gone, I wouldn't mind seeing this.
C) The anti-ship: Yukinojou/Momohime. At one point I wouldn't have minded it as a runner-up ship, but... I don't know, he's kind of a dick. Pretty, but when he's not cardboard he's an ass.
D) My unpopular fannish opinion on said character: Er, there ISN'T a fandom.
E) One person he/she never fell in love with, and why: There's not really enough characters for this to work... if I were going to go with anyone, I'd say Yukinojou, because I think their relationship is kind of traditional and distant and probably comfortable and there's affection, but not really passion. But it all depends what you count as love, I guess, and how you view the characters. I wouldn't totally rule it out like with some of these other ones.

B) The runner up: Uh. Huh. I dunno, Balthier/Vaan might be kind of funny? But it would be more Vaan having a crush on Balthier and him cheerfully ignoring it. His interaction with Cid is interesting, but I'm not sure if I'd SHIP it as such, I might have to check my morals and get back to you.
C) The anti-ship: Balthier/Ashe. Like Sanji/Nami, this is one of those things where the CANON makes me twitch. I just hate this pairing. Partially because I'd imprinted on Basch/Ashe LONG before this reared its head, not to mention Balthier/Fran, but it just doesn't work for me.
D) My unpopular fannish opinion on said character: I haven't really been through FFXII fandom enough to know the opinions.
E) One person he/she never fell in love with, and why: Ashe. He backs the hell off whenever she's flirting with him, she's trying to have an epic parting moment and he's more concerned by Fran... it's still the same in Revenant Wings, too. He just doesn't think of her that way.
Roy
A) My OTP: ROY/ED, ALWAYS.
B) The runner up: I don't really HAVE another ship, I get sulky if Roy's with someone else. XD;
C) The anti-ship: Hughes/Roy. I love their relationship and it's massively important to both characters, but I just don't read it like that. To me it's a platonic, (NON-INCESTUOUS) family bond. I also don't really like Roy/Al, because... well, a) I ship Roy/Ed so Al feels like a replacement and he deserves better, b) I ship Al/Winry, and c) Al is WAY TOO YOUNG, Roy has a limit.
D) My unpopular fannish opinion on said character: Amestris!Roy is not interchangable with WWII!Roy! Having Ed end up with a Roy over in the other world is not the same and it is not satisfying, dammit.
E) One person he/she never fell in love with, and why: Hawkeye. Roy knows better than to fall in love with his subordinates, and he fears being housetrained a la Black Hayate. Ed is an exception both because he's not exactly a direct subordinate the same as the rest of Roy's people and because he is Ed, and thus takes perverse delight in breaking every man-made and natural rule there is.

D) My unpopular fannish opinion on said character: Duo is not a mentally retarded 2-year-old. He's also not a dark ball of bottomless angst hiding behind a fragile clown-mask. He's fucked up, they all are, and he has his dark moments, but he's genuinely making the best of a shit situation. Which is partially personality type and partially coping mechanism.
E) One person he/she never fell in love with, and why: I... dunno. Let's be totally random and say Relena. I think he respects her even if he doesn't always agree with her, but is never going to fall starry-eyed at her feet. OH YEAH, ANOTHER UNPOPULAR OPINION, I DON'T THINK HE HATES RELENA AND WANTS TO CLAW HER FACE OFF EVERY TIME SHE GOES NEAR HEERO.
Stein
A) My OTP: Stein/Spirit
B) The runner up: There IS no runner up. His loving sadism is fixed only on YOU, sempai~
C) The anti-ship: I forget her name, but that chick he was partnered with in the Arachne arc. If anything happened between them it would feel pastede on yey. Chick appears with an old crush on Stein; that's nice, awfully CONVENIENT, but I don't buy it from his character to reciprocate.
D) My unpopular fannish opinion on said character: Uh, no idea bout the fandom.
E) One person he/she never fell in love with, and why: Since I can't think of a serious answer - Maka's mother. Bitch is a homewrecker. >:|

D) My unpopular fannish opinion on said character: Is it unpopular to think that Waka has an epic long-standing centuries-old crush on Ammy?
E) One person he/she never fell in love with, and why: Anyone other than Amaterasu. :|b More seriously, he's practically immortal or something, and beneath his playful attitude I think Waka is actually very cautious and elusive about important information about himself, not just to be obnoxious, but because... he's here for a reason, he's not going to jepardise that. Also, falling in love with a human who'll just die is painful, and I don't think Waka would open his heart to take that risk.
Riku
A) My OTP: Riku/Sora!!
B) The runner up: *blank stare*
C) The anti-ship: Riku/Mickey, maybe? Mickey/Riku? Whichever way, I don't get it. I don't WANT to get it.
D) My unpopular fannish opinion on said character: Not really sure if either of these things are unpopular opinions, but I don't think it was ever really about Kairi for Riku, at least not at first. Also, he was a total jackass at the beginning of KH1. I love him, but seriously.
E) One person he/she never fell in love with, and why: Namine, Xion, Roxas... After KH1 Riku pretty much exists for Sora and Sora alone. He doesn't have room to sympathise with Nobodies, no matter who they might remind him of.

B) The runner up: HAH. Yeah, right.
C) The anti-ship: Subaru/Kamui. For me they'll just always be too wrapped up in their beloved tormentors to really see each other that way, and neither would take the initiative. Even if someone did take the initiative with Subaru, he'd be thinking of Seishirou the whole time. He's too fucked up for anything else. And while I can see where dark Sakurazukamori!Subaru/Kamui is coming from, it just doesn't interest me; I'd rather have the original product.
D) My unpopular fannish opinion on said character: Of all characters in all fandoms, you would think I'd be able to come up with something here, but you know I can't? Oh, I suppose I'm not that interested in Sakurazukamori!Subaru. In theory, it's a wicked idea, but in practice if I'm going to write/read fic, eh.
E) One person he/she never fell in love with, and why: Anyone who is not Seishirou. His entire life has been warped to the point where he's incapable of moving on and forming that connection. His connection with Kamui is over the shared victim mentality - they both understand what it's like to have your life consumed and fucked over by someone you love so you can never move on.

D) My unpopular fannish opinion on said character: FUCK YOU FANDOM, SHE RULES. Even if she didn't always treat Luke right, her heart's in the right place and she was a kid and it would've sucked for her, too. Plus she is an AWESOME princess and my heart breaks for her during the exhile arc.
E) One person he/she never fell in love with, and why: Luke. She was always trying to fit him into the mold of someone he never realy was, and once she realised that, and started thinking of him and Asch as separate people, they made much, much better friends than betrothed.
Asad
A) My OTP: Meruvis/Asad. Talk about matchmaker ships.
B) The runner up: ... I kind of used to like Chrodechild/Asad, but as the game progressed and there just wasn't any reciprocation, I lost interest. Fredegunde/Asad might be HILARIOUS. (Yes, in that order.) I also wouldn't say no to Roberto/Asad. Asad/Roberto? Those two are both such pissy cats, it's hard to tell.
C) The anti-ship: Asad/his minions. I'm shallow. Also I just don't care.
D) My unpopular fannish opinion on said character: I think fandom-- or at least j-fandom, which is the only fandom I've encountered-- is all OVER blushing virgin Asad, and I find that hilarious and awesome.
E) One person he/she never fell in love with, and why: Fredegunde. She scares the CRAP out of him, and also she's Chrodechild's precious baby sister. Even if he gave up on her, he wouldn't want to upset her like that.

A) My OTP: Chrodechild/Fredegunde
B) The runner up: Again, what I said above re: Chrodechild/Asad.
C) The anti-ship: MERUVIS/CHRODECHILD AUUUGH. So cardboard.
D) My unpopular fannish opinion on said character: I don't think she's ever thought about Meruvis that way. She trusts him, she cares about him and she relies on his strength, but it's not romantic.
E) One person he/she never fell in love with, and why: Asad. It just didn't OCCUR to her. She's kind of dense about that stuff, and didn't notice it in the game despite there practically being flashing neon signs. I don't think she ever will; she's too blinded by other things that are more important to her, i.e. her country and her sister.

Peony
A) My OTP: Peony/Nephry <3 My heart breaks for them. ToA is a MEAN GAME.
B) The runner up: Peony/Saphir, see above.
C) The anti-ship: Peony/Jade. Since I can't be bothered repeating myself, it's like Hughes/Roy for me, see above under Roy.
D) My unpopular fannish opinion on said character: He's honestly, truly in love with Nephry, and not with Jade? He really cares about Saphir? Actually, J-fen seem to agree with me on that one.
E) One person he/she never fell in love with, and why: Jade. He loves him, but has and will never fall IN love with him. Why? Ugh, it's JADE, perish the thought. More seriously, much as he loves Jade, he knows what his best friend is capable of and it scares the shit out of him. Unlike Saphir, he's not insane enough to let Jade unleash that on HIM. Jade needs someone to keep him from going way out of bounds, and a friend is way better placed to do that than a lover.

Luke (Prof. Layton)
A) My OTP: I still do like Luke/Flora when he's a little older.
B) The runner up: Although, Luke/Katya did briefly appeal to me while playing the second game...
C) The anti-ship: Layton/Luke. I think it's sweet as a father/son-like relationship. Although, I would pay money to see Luke get a starry-eyed teenage hormonal worship crush on Layton who awkwardly pretends to ignore it until it goes away!
D) My unpopular fannish opinion on said character: No idea what's going on in fandom.
E) One person he/she never fell in love with, and why: Lol, no idea. Once you rule out Flora and Layton, there's not really anyone left.
Tamaki
A) My OTP: KYOUYA/TAMAKI ALWAYS. I don't care if that wasn't the manga you wanted to create, sensei, it's the one that SHOULD HAVE BEEN.
B) The runner up: I used to actually quite like Tamaki/Haruhi, but the later chapters have kind of killed it for me. Oh, Tamaki/twins!
C) The anti-ship: Tamaki/Haruhi is moving in this direction, but I still retain SOME residual fondness for it.
D) My unpopular fannish opinion on said character: Um... maybe again with the not a 2 year old thing? Although that's a bit more borderline, Tamaki CAN be a bit hyper. XD;
E) One person he/she never fell in love with, and why: Tamaki is in love with the world, I think. It's what makes him so amazingly special.

A) My OTP: This is a tough one for me. When I originally played the game I was like, 13, and it was Locke/Celes. Then subsequently I discovered yaoi and it was Edgar/Locke. I think I'd have to replay the game as an adult with a more balanced perspective to know for sure which way I'd go now.
B) The runner up: Whichever one was not the OTP!
C) The anti-ship: Hm. *thoughtful* Maybe Locke/Terra? FFVI never had a big enough fandom for me to passionately hate anything. I just don't really ship it.
D) My unpopular fannish opinion on said character: ... I, I think there'd need to be a fandom first...
E) One person he/she never fell in love with, and why: WAHA um, this is a tough one, I keep trying to think of things and being like, wellll, Setzer/Locke COULD be intriguing if done right.... Um. Maybe Terra, again. Not quite the right balance of strength yet vulnerability. I don't think they could give each other what they needed.
Kain
A) My OTP: Cecil/Kain
B) The runner up: Hunh. Dunno. I saw Edge/Kain on Japanese fansites and it's random, but strangely not totally unappealing.
C) The anti-ship: Golbez/Kain? I dunno, I have a weird love-hate relationship with this, but I think seeing too much Japanese fanart and fanfic for it tipped me towards hate.
D) My unpopular fannish opinion on said character: In the reverse of the Zoro thing, I suspect Kain couldn't top a mattress. Cecil is a pretty moon princess, sure, but he's pretty muscular where Kain is willowy and more to the point, Kain is not proactive at all. He reacts to things, he doesn't instigate them.
E) One person he/she never fell in love with, and why: Rosa maybe? I have a theory that he sublimates his feelings for Cecil into more "acceptable" feelings for Rosa that he know will never be returned. Because the game tells us a lot that he loves her, but it doesn't really SHOW us. Even in the remake, he seems to think about Cecil an awful lot. Whether he's under mental influence or not, he's also pretty quick to trade her for a crystal when he's gotta know how that's gonna go down.

E) One person he/she never fell in love with, and why: *thoughtful* Tytree has a really open heart, I think he could probably fall in love with anyone given the chance. Well, not some of the bad guys; he has a really strong sense of justice, he wouldn't forgive that stuff easily. Especially if someone hurt his Aneki.

B) The runner up: I don't think I actually ship Mao with anyone? OH WAIT, I would not say no to Caius/Mao after VS. :D
C) The anti-ship: Don't REALLY have one... but I don't really ship him with anyone, so in that sense I guess any Mao ship kind of is? XD;

A) My OTP: I don't really have one? I have ships I don't mind for Beryl, but nothing I'm passionate about.
B) The runner up: I don't mind Innes/Beryl. I also wouldn't mind Shing/Beryl I guess because I really felt for her, but for the above reason I don't think it'd ever happen. OH. BERYL/KOHAK. Actually if I WERE going to have a Beryl OTP that'd probably be it.
C) The anti-ship: Don't have one.
D) My unpopular fannish opinion on said character: I give up on this requirement.

Kunzite
A) My OTP: Kunzite/Richea. <3
B) The runner up: Kunzite/Hisui... Hisui/Kunzite?? whatever. Hisui/Richea creeped me out but I quite liked the other side of the triangle. Also, Cloaseraph/Kunzite. This might've been my OTP if I didn't love Kunzite/Richea so much. And also maybe if Kunzite were a little less WAH DO NOT WANT ;___; about his stalker with a crush. I really kind of felt for Cloaseraph, though.

E) One person he/she never fell in love with, and why: It pains me a little to say, but Cloaseraph. His only concept of love is violence and possession. He is THE stereotypical yandere who, if Kunzite were a bird, would tear his wings off so he couldn't fly away. Which of course only makes Kunzite want to run faster.

B) The runner up: For all that I OTP Naoe/Takaya fiercely and can't ever see Takaya really being with anyone else, whatever the circumstances, I still like Chiaki/Takaya. And Yuzuru/Takaya (oh Takaya, you can't even top YUZURU). Actually, Hyoudou/Takaya is also pretty appealing.
C) The anti-ship: Uh... I don't... WAIT. YES I DO. ODA/KAGETORA. AAAAAAAAAH TRAUMA. *weep*
D) My unpopular fannish opinion on said character: Ummm. Hm. We get so much of Kagetora's thought processes from canon, I'm not sure how much wiggle room there is for variation.
E) One person he/she never fell in love with, and why: As Takaya - anyone but Naoe. Because they weren't Naoe, and Takaya is really screwed up.
Edgeworth
A) My OTP: Edgeworth/Phoenix. No contest.
B) The runner up: You know what? I think I could go Rou/Edgeworth. Or whatever the wolf-detective's name is in English, that's the only game I played in Japanese. If I didn't already ship Edgeworth/Phoenix so hard, I probably woul have been all OVER that.
C) The anti-ship: Phoenix Wright is one of the fandoms where I'm more strictly OTP, so I don't really like any other Edgeworth pairings. Edgeworth/Gumshoe and Edgeworth/Franciska especially, though.
D) My unpopular fannish opinion on said character: Edgeworth may wear pink, but personality-wise he pwns Phoenix CONSTANTLY. Sure, Phoenix wins in court, but more by good luck than good management - Edgeworth has control of the situation right until the bombshell is unleashed, always. So why does fandom insist on Phoenis topping??
E) One person he/she never fell in love with, and why: Franciska. He really does consider her like his little sister, however he feels about Von Karma.
Sasuke (man, it's been YEARS, not sure how much I recall. Keeping in mind I never even got as far as Sasuke's return in the manga....)

B) The runner up: Uh... hm. I think I might not have been opposed to Itachi/Sasuke.
C) The anti-ship: Sasuke/Sakura. Bleh. Boring.
D) My unpopular fannish opinion on said character: I've been out of fandom so long, I wouldn't have a clue.
E) One person he/she never fell in love with, and why: Sakura. He gets to value her as a teammate and friend, but he's just not interested in her that way.

A) My OTP: Mckay/Sheppard. Shocking, I know.
B) The runner up: Hm, I don't think I have one. This is one character where I was basically a one-ship woman.
C) The anti-ship: *contemplates* I didn't really like John/Teyla or John/Elizabeth. They didn't inspire me to tears or rage like some pairings do, but I was probably less happy with them than some other alternatives.
D) My unpopular fannish opinion on said character: I was pretty in tune with the fannish hive brain on John, I think.
E) One person he/she never fell in love with, and why: Elizabeth. She's his CO, for a start, and their ways of thinking are too diseparate.
Jack Harkness
A) My OTP: It WAS Jack/Ianto... but I've been feeling a little burnt out on it since the second season, somehow. Mostly I got sick of Jack being, well, a jackass.
B) The runner up: See above, I was a bit grumpy at Jack. XD; Maybe Jack/John. I thought Jack/Doctor was cute back in S1 DW, but after that not really.
C) The anti-ship: JACK/GWEN. AUUUUUUUUUUUUUGH ENDLESS BURNING HATE.
D) My unpopular fannish opinion on said character: Hm, I'm sure I HAVE one, but I can't think of anything.
E) One person he/she never fell in love with, and why: *tilts head* Jack could probably fall in love with anyone or anything if he was in the mind for it. Maybe Tosh - he seemed to think of her as a little sister.
