Nov. 14th, 2010 04:16 amMother has been struck down with what seems like gastro. Apparently she practically feels like she's got dysentry and is sure she's never been sicker. I sincerely hope I don't get it, not just for the obvious reason but also because my diabetes would require me to go to hospital, which NONE of us need. (This is what happened when I had gastro in 2006: 5 days on an IV drip. Admittedly I managed to avoid it when I got gastro in 2008, but that was partly sheer bloody-mindedness, not wanting to have to deal with the cost and fuss of going to hospital in Japan, and also relatively speaking it wasn't that bad. I could hold down water.)
I have meanwhile discovered the advantages of insalling a game from a disc to the harddrive on the Xbox 360. Of course I knew it would mean faster loading times, but I'd never bothered before. Lost Odyssey's load times were driving me bananas this time, though, so this time I did. Not only did it improve the load times to be actually bearable, it also had the side benefit of stopping the loud fan noises my Xbox usually makes when I play a game! Bonus. It's magical.
Still ekeing away at various wips. Actually, while I think about it, maybe I should post some of meme fics to the ficblog, since they never saw the light of day over there.... hmmm.
Anyhoo, the video game meme marches on.
Day 4 - Your guilty pleasure game
Ahahaha, there's no contest on this question. There are games I don't think are that good or don't like that much that I have previously picked up when bored - like that time I played all of Super Mario GBA in a week during my finals in year 11, and couldn't figure out why other than that I was avoiding studying - but for a game I actively enjoy and yet feel mildly embarrassed about in polite adult society? Pokemon, hands down. orz
Although, I used to play Harvest Moon in highschool, which I think also deserves an honorable mention.
Also, this is slightly different because I was only playing it for a short while, but.... if ever there was a game I didn't want most people to catch me playing, it was the Kyou Kara Maou dating game. XD Hilarious, and also hilariously hard to explain; even when nobody else speaks the language, it kind of speaks for itself. Probably any BL game falls in this category, not that I play them very much.
Wait, wait, I've thought of another one! Rather than embarrassed of what other people think, this one makes me embarrassed for myself: LEGO GAMES. I 100% completed Lego Indiana Jones DS, and was mildly ashamed because seriously? SERIOUSLY, me? Of all the games to go obsessive OCD completionist over... you chose this one? orz (I also feel this way about various tamagotchi, sim pet etc style games, though thankfully that's a habit I've mostly broken over the years.)
