The Internet is for *BLEEEEEEEEEEEP*
Nov. 15th, 2010 05:32 amHooray, hooray, I finally fucking finished that fucking Zoro/Sanji fic! 4000 words of genderswap porn! Which I haven't posted yet because it is a sequel to another fic I haven't posted - it's finished but I want to edit it some more - and also it's 5 in the morning.
I did, however, post a bunch of highschool AU ficlets from a meme I did in May last year and never got around to uploading earlier this evening, to try and cheer myself up about the fact the ZoSan fic (and the Tierkries WiP) was taking so long to finish: http://insaneidiot.livejournal.com/74503.html. Fandoms include Tales of the Abyss, Kamen Rider Kabuto, Phoenix Wright, Stargate Atlantis, Torchwood, Odin Sphere, Dragon Quest V, Hanakimi, FFIV, X, Mirage of Blaze, Merlin, Due South and Arashi.
In other writing news, I'm going to stay at
_leareth's place for a few days this coming weekend, and we've got writing sessions planned. I will make headway on boyband!X, dammit.
This assumes, of course, that I do not end up in hospital with mum's horrible ailment. *literally knocks on wood* She's getting better now and apparently is no longer contagious, but these things have an incubation period. I have bitter memories of the last time I thought I was in the clear.
As for RL, it would not stop raining in Canberra today. This was a little unfortunate, because I had to do the grocery shopping for mum. At least my car could use a wash; it gets filthy where I park it because the oak trees drop sappy twigs all over, and then the dirt sticks. Less brilliantly, not even constant heavy rain will clean it. I need to go to the carwash, but it feels like such a waste when I know it'll only get dirty again...
Anyway, meme time!
Day 5 - Game character you feel you are most like (or wish you were)
Initially when I thought about this, I couldn't think of an answer and was going to talk about how, while as a writer I'm used to identifying with most characters to a certain extent, there are no characters I really identify with overall. However, it then occurred to me there is a character I identify with more than most - and not just in terms of the unfortunate circumstances in which the character finds themself, or their personality flaws, which are the easiest way to find your way in as a writer (happiness tends somehow to be either generic or too overly specific, at least in my experience; negative emotions are the ones that push a character to their limits, which is generally what writing aims to do).
Sorry if that's a bit incoherent, it's almost 5.30am and I'm a little tired. Anyway, I think I identify with Yuri Lowell from Tales of Vesperia on more than the usual general level I find myself identifying with characters. His sarcastic but friendly way of interacting with people he cares about isn't too dissimilar to my own approach, although he's sharper-tongued than I am. His struggle with justice and the idea of conscience versus social order is something I have cause to think about a fair bit (see also: tl;dr ToV game blog XD), and although from an outside perspective I've criticised Yuri's actions on that front, I can't say for sure I wouldn't do likewise in a similar situation. Even the way he kind of fucks up his life at the beginning of the game, treading water without really doing anything and avoiding Flynn and letting such an important friendship fall apart, is the kind of stupid passivity I know I'm capable of. But I like to think I have some of his more positive qualities, too, like loyalty and strength of ideals and good people skills (when they're not shit- this applies to Yuri as well as myself, I think XD).
