my grandfather has been diagnosed with either heart failure or lung cancer. they don't know which yet; they'll do further tests on monday. if it's heart failure they can treat it. if it's cancer, they can't. mum is going up to sydney next weekend.

Oh no! I wish i could come up with something comforting to say but i can't so *hugs* And if it is cancer they can sometimes treat it a bit or make it less bad. My dads best friend has lung cancer and when he was diagnosed they said that he wouldn't live for another three months, tweleve motnhs later and he's still alive and kicking so it isn't always certain

We can but hope. The thing is, Grandpa is 86 so there isn't much they would be able to do... but I have to be positive. My grandad died from lung cancer before I was born, and one of my mother's friends died last year, and she says her father doesn't have any of the signs. So, you know. We're really hopeful that it's not cancer.
