*hissssss* Usually, I LIKE being Australian. Usually, I think Australia is cool. I can even deal with John Howard being priminster, as I have no choice, and even our "special relationship" with the Bush regime. And yes, I mean regime.
However.
Words cannot express how much I hate the Australian government right now, not to mention my own parents. "Oh, gay marriage is BAD! It undermines a sacred institution! They shouldn't marry because they can't have children!"
What about barren couples?
"IVF!"
People who don't WANT children?
"There's always a CHANCE they'll have children."
Why can't gay couples adopt?
"Oh, that's wrong. Poor child."
FOR GOD'S FUCKING SAKE! I HATE FUCKING HUMANITY. I begin to suspect that the Dutch may quite possibly be a more understanding people, as much as the concept horrifies me. I HATE australia, I HATE john howard, I HATE my parents and I FUCKING HATE THE CATHOLIC CHURCH. *kicks wall*

So do I, and as horrible a thought as JH/GWB is, it makes a shudder-worthy kind of sense. *grin*
However, the thing that was REALLY pissing me off was my parents. The above was a conversation I had with them, in particular my mother. I have to wonder what she'd do if I disowned her and moved to Holland to marry a girl or something.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with same-sex marriages. There is nothing wrong with being in love, no matter what. Love will always win.

This is another reason why Johnnie's gonna get his puny arse kicked in the next election...

And your reasoning for this is completely logical. Johnnie was dumped by Bushy. As much as I think that is EXTREME slashing... It is soooooooo true...

*blinks and hugs* Poor Shivvy. Personally, at the rate of divorce at the moment, I think the 'sacred insitution of marriage' has kidna been thrown out the window. Do you want to elope with me to Holland? AS I'm sure the telephone bills will far too for your mum to ring and complain...*grins and hugs again* And yes, the Catholic Church sucks. Espeaically since basically most of the homophobia decends from the straight clergy being jealous that the gay clery could still have sex in the 12thC while the straight clergy couldn't.
