Am re-watching Romeo & Juliet for English assignment thing, and I paid special attention to the Mercutio scenes, as he is my favourite character. It struck me, watching it again, that Mercutio gets gayer every single time you watch it. More subtext just pops out every time. Interesting.
For example, did anyone else notice that he didn't actually get peeved at Tybalt until Tybalt accused him of "consorting" with Romeo? Ie, being Romeo's consort? Eheheheheh. Heaps of other things, if I get REALLY bored I may post a mini-essay thing. *snorf* Or maybe just a list, if I'm lazy.

Good thing about this being for an assignment is that I can watch scenes repeatedly without my parents getting suspicious. Mwahahahah. Not that I HAVE, yet, but there's always the option.

...Hey, do you think Romeo just imagined the whole Mercutio-at-party thing? Cause Mercutio wasn't wearing half of that stuff. Like the collar, or the arm thingies, or the stockings. Or the cape. Could have completely been a hallucination brought on by drugs. Pity.

Edit: Too bad this thing isn't on "What signs are there that Mercutio is gay?" because I would ROCK if it was. Le sigh.

I think we all love Gay!Mercutio. A teacher once asked me why I was so obsessed with Mercutio; it was very difficult not to say, "Dude. Because he's in beautiful gay love with Romeo, man." Instead I made up some BS about his being the only happy, optimistic character in the play and then DYING.

Well, they aren't ALL awesome. But Ms Vance is, and so is Mrs Thompson (another english teacher, is insane in a cool way) and Heidi-sensei (japanese teacher, we call her by her first name, friend instead of teacher), and Mr Marshall (computing teacher, he's really cool and friendly, made me a cd.)

I had to write a poem based on a scene in Romeo & Juliet last year. Everyone but my English teacher read it and then looked at me and asked, "are you trying to imply that they're, like, gay or something?"

They may have chosen to overlook it, or just not said anything. My English teacher did say at the end of the year that she liked the way I "look outside of the box" *snerk*.

Yes, I know it's bible slash. But the bible doesn't have copyright. So too bad for the bible.

And... well, I think if you're not a fangirl it is. But he DOES crossdress. You just pick up more subtext when you watch it a few times.

*shrug* It's the bible. I don't particularly care. Besides, it's very narrow-minded to say that it's bible slash. Christianity isn't the only religion with that God. And angels mostly come from OTHER religions, like Judaism. The only angels mentioned by name in the bible are Gabriel and Michael, and they're mentioned in heaps of other places that aren't Christian, too.

*shrug* Why? Childhood conceptions? What's the big difference between slashing religion and slashing history, pray tell? History is RPS; Religion is only POSSIBLE RPS.

I was raised a Catholic. I have very little regard for the bible.

And don't blame ME. I may have read slash slightly before Eugenie did, but I never told her. She and Anna discovered it without MY help.

I can't decide whether or not it's my fault she got worse. But I really do think she would have done that with or without me, somehow.
